The Gods have taken over the island in Fortnite! Chapter 5 Season 2 has launched, with Zeus, Ares, Hades, and Cerberus taking up new boss spots and bringing new medallion effects with them. Among the new weapons for the Fortnite season is the Thunderbolt of Zeus, giving you the power of the God to rain lightning bolts from above!

Despite sounding OP, the community has found this new Mythic quite underwhelming, especially in the Zero Build mode. However, thanks to a user on Reddit, we’ve spotted the best use for the Thunderbolt of Zeus in Fortnite!

Golden Touch

Introduced in Chapter 5 Season 2 of Fortnite, the Thunderbolt of Zeus Mythic has felt quite lacklustre. This is probably better than it being overpowered, as it is a common item to find, but we do feel it could do with a little improvement.

Using it will suspend you in the air as you launch three lightning bolts at your target, with the first two dealing 40 damage, and the final one 80. However, when in use, it leaves you very vulnerable to attacks.

It has definitely found its home in the regular Battle Royal mode, with many finding it a useful tool to destroy structures. In Zero Build mode, it feels more of a hindrance, with far better items around to put in your inventory instead.

However, we do think we’ve spotted the best use for the Thunderbolt of Zeus! This is thanks to u/imalonexc on Reddit, who posted this shot clip:

As you can see, using lightning to smash a pile of gold bars proves very effective! Much better than spending your time smashing through them with your pickaxe!

If you’re in a hurry, then use this to add to your gold collection, then get out of there fast. This will come in especially useful at the start of a season, with everyone’s bars account reset.

You’ll find the bars handy for gaining some of the best weapons in Fortnite. Don’t know where to use your bars? Check out all the bunker and bench locations to mod your weapons.
