How To Choose Your Main In Dragonflight

Choosing a main is not easy and can take quite a bit of thought. The simplest answer and the one that is as straightforward as it comes is to simply ask yourself. “What do I like playing the most?” Remember that even if the answer to that isn’t a class or spec that is in the current meta Blizzard is always tuning classes and you’d be surprised how close the classes are together when it comes to performance.

Blizzard balances their classes and specs to a meticulous degree, if you’re playing a class that is doing less than another then you have to consider what you’re bringing to a team that they aren’t. It might be utility, it might be healing or it might be a buff. The point is that every class and spec has its niches so even don’t let it stop you picking a class just because it’s not at the top of the meters.

The perfect example is the Balance Druid. Currently Balance is not doing the most competitive damage but you will see a Balance Druid in a lot of raid teams because they bring a powerful buff, are very tough to kill and have a lot of utility with spells such as Innervate and Stampeding Roar.

What To Consider When Choosing A Main

There are a few things to consider when choosing your main. Here’s what we’d recommend you keep in mind:

  • Your role – Do you want to play, tank, healer, dps or do you want a class that can do multiple roles?
  • Enjoyment – Do you find any spec to have a particularly enjoyable playstyle?
  • Playstyle – Similar to role can you narrow down your choice down to a specific playstyle such as ranged dps or melee healer?
  • The meta – If you’re focused primarily on playing the strongest class, consider the current meta and what has shown to be strong.
  • What are your friends playing – Do you friends need a tank and you want to fit into the team?

Can I play alts in Dragonflight

Thankfully Dragonflight is showing to be one of the most alt friendly expansions yet. With Blizzard’s major design philosophy change there are very few mandatory things to do each week to progress your character. There are the usual weekly locked pieces of content like raids and the great vault

Gone are the days of farming hours every day on every character just to make sure they don’t fall behind leaving plenty of time for us to level as many alts as we like and get gearing!

Have fun and good luck in the expansion! We’ll see you there.
