The Tears of the Kingdom A Signature Food quest is part of an ongoing election war that’s started brewing in Hateno Village involving the village chief, Reede, and the fashion designer, Cece. The initial instructions for this quest are a bit vague, but we’ll run you through everything you need to know.

How do you start the A New Signature Food quest
When you enter Hateno Village, go into Cece’s clothing shop on the left (coordinates are 3355, -2125, 0121) and there’ll be a cutscene which leads into the electoral battle. Once that’s finished, go Reede’s house at coordinates 3429, -2082, 0131. Talk to him, and you’ll get the A New Signature Food side adventure.
Tears of the Kingdom A New Signature Food quest walkthrough
You’ll be told about a dish that Reede’s grandfather made which is described as having a “creamy, melty mouthfeel” with a “unique, pungent aroma”. Not exactly easy to narrow down. However, it’s implied that the local farm could have some leads, so go to coordinates 3636, -2104, 0178 and have an ask around. If you speak to Dantz, he’ll inform you that the fresh milk they usually give out has run dry because of the lack of acorns. Simply grab three acorns (you can find them in the forest just outside Hateno Village in the west), and you can exchange them for a bottle of fresh milk. That’s your first ingredient down.
Next, you’ll want to go to the dock in the farm and speak to the girl standing there looking at the lake. Her name is Koyin, and she won’t be very helpful until you retrieve the message in a bottle from her great-grandfather which is in the middle of the lake. You’ll need to grab this with the Tears of the Kingdom Ultrahand ability, and the easiest way to do so will be to chop down a few nearby trees, make a raft out of the log, and use the raft to close the distance between you and the bottle. Once you hand the bottle over to Koyin, it’ll be revealed that her great-grandfather was the cheesemaker partner of Reede’s grandfather.
Go into the nearby farm building and you’ll see Koyin there working. Speak to her, and she’ll have solved the mystery of the dish Reede was after – Hateno Cheese. She’ll also open up a Hateno Cheese shop, so feel free to visit it if you ever need any. Go back to Reede’s with the Hateno Cheese in your inventory and he’ll immediately notice the smell, confirming it to be the food he was after. You’ll be awarded with 100 rupees for your trouble, and the Tears of the Kingdom A New Signature Food quest will be complete.
