Having a tough time solving the Tears of the Kingdom Mayachin Shrine puzzle in Hyrule Fields? Dubbed ‘A Fixed Device’, this particular shrine puts your problem-solving skills to the test and involves redirecting a giant ball pinball-style to reach the solution for this The Legend of Zelda TotK shrine.

We’ll outline what’s required to solve the Tears of the Kingdom Mayachin Shrine to pick up both the chest and Light of Blessing. As you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out the Tears of the Kingdom Susuyai Shrine and unlocking the Tears of the Kingdom Skyview Tower locations.

Where is the Tears of the Kingdom Mayachin Shrine?

The Tears of the Kingdom Mayachin Shrine is located in Windvane Meadow in Hyrule Field, Central Hyrule, next to the Exchange ruins, and north of the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower, coordinates -0705,-0868, 0031. The Mayachin Shrine location is southeast of Lookout Landing and south of the Tears of the Kingdom Susuyai Shrine.

Tears of the Kingdom Mayachin Shrine solution

Enter the shrine, hop onto the spinning platform to get to the other side. In front of you, you’ll spot a switch on the floor and a pillar side-by-side. Step on the switch to pivot a large slab and reveal a large orange target. It’s also worth hitting the pillar to get a sense of what it does – it pivots a rotating device fixed to the ground below the bullseye.

Head down the stairs. Here, you’ll see various objects, including a large ball that drops from a hatch at regular intervals, several long logs, the pivoting device mentioned above, and two green pointy Zonai stakes. The idea here is to make a bat or flipper to redirect the ball towards the target.

Use Ultrahand to grab one of the stakes, and feed it into the green part of the pivoting device, pointy end first. Note that there’s no way to attach the stack to the device using Ultrahand. Position it a short distance into the device and hit cancel to keep it in place. Attach a log to the stake so that they form a bat.

Head back up the stairs to the pillar. The key is to hit the pillar at the right time to trigger the bat so that it hits the ball. The timing is fairly forgiving, but aim to attack the pillar when the ball rolls onto the second white floor marking closest to the bat. Done correctly and the ball will hit the bullseye and open the door to complete the Tears of the Kingdom Mayachin Shrine.

Hitting the target also reveals a second target on the right side of the room. Again, the trick is to direct the ball using the bat to hit the bullseye. However, there’s a hanging stone slab blocking the path. Go down the stairs and use Ultrahand to attach the stake behind the slab to the ceiling just above. As before, place it in stake-first, then tap cancel. After that, use Ultrahand to attach the stone slab to the stake to clear the path.

Head back to the pillar and hit it at the right time to direct the ball towards the target. This time, you’ll want to wait until the ball is almost at the edge. Once the ball hits the target, a gate on the right unlocks, allowing you to reach the Tears of the Kingdom Mayachin Shrine chest, which contains an Energizing Elixir.
