The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Kiuyoyou Shrine is one of those where you’ll kick yourself once you know the solution. Like many Shrines in The Legend of Zelda TotK, though, it’s not very intuitive at first and will test your problem-solving skills, so it’s no surprise that people are struggling with the puzzles it contains.

You’ll need to make the most of Tears of the Kingdom Ultrahand here, as well as a bit of Tears of the Kingdom Ascend if you want to get your hands on the Shrine’s treasure chest.

Where is the Kiuyoyou Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom?

Kiuyoyou Shrine walkthrough

In the first room of the Shrine, you’ll see a big ice cube in front of you, and some flamethrowers to the right. Using Ultrahand, take the ice block and briefly put it in the fire to melt it. This will shrink the ice slightly. Take the shrunken ice into the far left corner where you’ll see a pillar with a small button underneath it. Place the ice on the button to open the gate next to it.

This room features a large hole running the length of it. On the right of the room, a current of air is being blown. Jump into it and use your paraglider to ride this updraft to the other end of the room. Here you’ll see big cubes being dropped into fire, which melts them immediately into a smaller cube. Directly in front of where the air current takes you, you’ll see a large stone slab. Pick up a smaller ice cube using Ultrahand and move it in front of the flamethrowers to block the fire.

Once the flames are being blocked, pick up the ice cube and attach it to the stone wall. Remove them both carefully so as not to melt the ice. Turn around and you’ll see a floor covered in spikes. Place the stone and ice on the spikes with the ice block at the bottom, and it will slide down. Go back to the air current and use your paraglider to gain a bit of air, before gliding back down to the room’s entrance.

Before moving on, to the left of the entrance is a ledge with a treasure chest sitting above it. Place the ice block on the ledge, and use Ascend to climb through both the ledge and the block. Jump off and open the chest to receive a Zonaite Spear.

Return to the first room with your ice block. Take it to the flamethrowers and place it inside to trigger a switch. It’s crucial that you place it with the stone wall on top, in order to block the flames and prevent the ice from melting. If you melt the ice, you will have to get another ice block.

Once the button has been pressed, the gate in this room will open, and you’ll be able to walk through and interact with the Tears of the Kingdom Kiuyoyou Shrine to complete it and grab a Light of Blessing to put towards your next heart container.
