The Tears of the Kingdom Frost Gleeok is one of the many overworld bosses you’ll find across Hyrule, and one of the three elemental Gleeoks. It’s not your average boss, so you’ll need to prepare for it, otherwise you’ll quickly be sent packing to a game over screen.

Brew up some cold resistance Tears of the Kingdom elixir recipes and stock up on your Tears of the Kingdom arrows, because we’re going to take you through how to beat the Tears of the Kingdom Frost Gleeok.

There are three Frost Gleeoks in Tears of the Kingdom. They are located in the Biron Snowshelf north of the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower, in the Tabantha Tundra east of the Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower, and in the Gerudo Highlands just north of the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower. If you’re seeking one out, our recommendation is to head to the Tabantha Tundra or Gerudo Highlands as they’re both the most easily accessible from their nearby Tears of the Kingdom Skyview Towers.

Before you take on the Frost Gleeok, there’s some preparation you need to do. First thing first, you need arrows, and a lot of them. The Frost Gleeok’s weak point is the eye on each of its heads, so you’ll be using arrows to do most of your damage. Bring some items to create fire arrows using Tears of the Kingdom Fuse, such as fire fruit. The Frost Gleeok is an ice monster, so fire arrows will do extra damage.

Finally, you need to be prepared for the cold. Cold resistance armour such as Snowquill Armour is ideal, but you can get by with meals and elixirs, too. If you can afford it, Snow Boots are incredibly useful in this fight as they let you run at full speed to avoid the Gleeok’s attacks. These can be found at the Tears of the Kingdom Gerudo Secret Club for 1,300 rupees.

When the fight first starts, it will shoot ice lasers at you from each of its heads. Hit each one with an arrow while avoiding these lasers. You can jump off any nearby high ground or use a Rocket Shield to enter bullet-time and make things easier. If you have them, Keese Eyeballs can be a very efficient way of hitting the heads, too. Once you hit all three heads, it will be stunned, so run up and get some quick damage in before it recovers and enters its second phase.

In phase two, it starts hurling ice towards you, which will explode into a snowflake shape on the ground. Just like the first phase, avoid its attacks and focus on hitting its heads with some arrows. It will also begin beating its wings and creating large gusts which can blow Link away if you aren’t careful. Just avoid its attacks and get an arrow in where you can, and deal some more damage while it’s stunned.

In its third phase, the Frost Gleeok will fly high into the air – too high for your arrows to reliably reach. It will start raining down giant icicles from above which will get lodged in the ground. Avoid getting hit as they fall, but if one lands nearby, climb onto it and use Tears of the Kingdom Recall. This will send the icicle flying into the sky, where you’ll be able to easily take down the heads again, either from the icicle or using bullet-time.

Once the boss is down, it’ll fall back to the ground, dropping its loot.

What do you get as a reward for defeating the Frost Gleeok in Tears of the Kingdom?
