Need to know how to control any sim in Sims 4? If you’re big on storytelling in your game, it can be frustrating when other sims in the world aren’t doing what you need them to.

The Sims 4 has endless opportunities for freedom, from exploring the new world of Tomarang in For Rent to having twins in your family game. While the unpredictability of the sims around you can make for interesting gameplay, it can backfire. They won’t always do what you need them to. Luckily, you can take control of other sims. Here’s how you do it.

How to control any sim without mods in Sims 4

To control any sim you want in the base game without mods, here’s what you can do:

  1. Enable cheats by typing ‘testingcheats on‘ in the cheat console and hitting enter
  2. Shift-click on the sim you want to control
  3. Choose Add to Family

This will add the sim to your active household and you’ll be able to control any of their actions. You can build relationships the way you want to, move them out of the way if they’re blocking an area, or anything else you need.

Be aware that if you want to add the sim to your family to control them, they have to be on the current lot with you. The option to add them does not appear through the relationship menu.

When you’re done with the sim you’re controlling, simply shift-click them again and choose Remove from Family. This will take them out of the active household again.

Easy money

By adding a sim to the current household, it will also add that sim’s household funds to your active household. Even after removing them, the simoleons will remain. It’s an easy way to cheat money.

However, this will add the sim to the current household, therefore removing them from whatever family they came from. While this isn’t a problem if the sim is a townie with no other household members, this can be troublesome if this sim already lives with another family. To fix this, simply take control of the household the sim initially came from, invite the sim to the current lot, and re-add them to the family.

How to control any sim with mods

If doing all the work above is too much, there is also a mod you can use for The Sims 4 that makes it easier. You can get Sims 4 Control Any Sim mod by TitanNano, which adds a new option to your actions menu. Once it’s been downloaded and installed, it’s easy to use.

Simply click on the sim you want to control, hit Actions, then Control Sim. This will temporarily add them to the household, but it won’t affect them being in the household they originally came from. You can simply remove them from the active sims by going back into Actions, then choosing Don’t Control Sim. It will remove them.
