The Legendaries: Koraidon And Miraidon

Koraidon(left) and Miraidon(right)

These 2 Legendaries are not just new additions to the Pokemon roster but they also allow you to traverse through the game. This is why, as opposed to previous Legendaries that we’ve seen through the years, these two will be available to catch a lot earlier in the game rather than near its end.

To get an idea of how these two would help you traverse across the Paldea region, you can think of mounts in the recently released Pokemon: Legends Arceus, but with multiple variations. Let’s explore what this means.

Koraidon (Pokemon Scarlet)

Koraidon, the big red dragon-like legendary from Pokemon Scarlet, has 3 different variations which he can use to traverse through various areas and terrains. All 3 have a unique look and make him appear incredibly cool.

Sprinting Build Koraidon

Given how sizeable the new Paldea region is, moving through its huge ground-based areas will be a daunting process. For this reason, Gamefreak decided to give the legendary Pokemon of this generation the ability to help you move along these grounds with much more speed and ease.

One thing to note about this form is that the Pokemon Company specified that Koraidon does not turn into a bicycle; rather, they use their strong 4 legs to sprint at high speeds and take you along with them.

Swimming Build Koraidon

Running swiftly through Paldea’s huge open planes isn’t the only thing Koraidon’s traversal forms are good for, in fact, they can also turn into a form that provides swift aquatic conveyance. This will most certainly be incredibly useful in Pokemon Scarlet’s rivers, lakes, and sprawling oceans.

Gliding Build Koraidon

As if travelling the huge ground areas and sprawling oceans wasn’t enough, Koraidon also has a form that will enable it to glide across the skies, jumping from mountains and buildings. As described by The Pokemon Company, in this form “Koraidon unravels the twisted tendrils on its head, forming wings to catch the air and glide through the skies”.

Miraidon (Pokemon Violet)

Miraidon, the sleek and pristine-looking lizard from the future, will be available exclusively in Pokemon Violet and will also feature at least 3 different forms that will enable you to traverse through the beautiful landscapes and massive environments of the game. Although these forms are essentially the same as those displayed by Koraidon, they do have key visual differences that players will find quite interesting.

Drive Mode Miraidon

Just like the Sprinting Build available for Koraidon you Pokemon Violet fans out there will be pleased to learn that Miraidon has a functionally same traversal variation called Drive Mode. This will help make travels across the expansive ground areas just that much quicker, and it also just looks really cool to boot. Miraidon, as with the future theme of Pokemon Violet, is seen looking like a cold and clean electric bike simply revving with the power that it contains.

Aquatic Mode Miraidon

This is Miraidon’s variation that is supposed to match Koraidon’s Swimming Build, meant to go across rivers, lakes, and insanely large oceans. In this form, our favorite Electric lizard is designed to look like the world’s strongest jet ski. We’re sure that catching water type pokemon on the back of your cool-looking legendary pokemon will make your Pokemon experience feel even more fun.

The Pokemon Company has described this mode as giving Miraidon the ability to propel “itself by rotating its rings, but it also uses the jet engines on its legs to move forward on the water.”

Glide Mode Miraidon

Finally, Miraidon has a 3rd and, as far as we know now, final transformation that matches the Gliding Build of Koraidon: Glide Mode! The design of this mode is clearly the most distinct out of the 3, as Miraidon simply turns into a jet-like plane which will have the ability to zoom across the skies. The Pokemon Company has said that for this glide mode to work, “the antennae on Miraidon’s head extend and spread a membrane of energy to glide through the skies.”
