What Is Pokemon Nature?

Nature is a special attribute for each Pokemon that determines its personality. However, it’s not merely a superficial quality; it even affects specific stats of the Pokemon. Mainly, the Nature of the Pokemon influences that Pokemon by boosting one particular stat while decreasing another.

The stats that it can modify include Attack, Special Attack, Defense, Special Defense, and Speed. It buffs one stat by 10% and nerfs another stat by the same percentage. With that said, it’s important to note that your Pokemon’s Nature doesn’t affect its HP.

Since each stat of Pokemon is associated with a particular flavor, the Nature of Pokemon also determines its favorite and disliked flavors. You can check the Nature of any Pokemon by reading its summary in the game’s menu.

Best Pokemon Nature

There aren’t any particular Natures that take precedence over others. The best Nature for any Pokemon depends on its abilities. For example, if your Pokemon uses Physical attacks, then you want to go with the Adamant Nature, which buffs the Attack while debuffing the Special Attack.

Similarly, if you rely on your Pokemon’s Special Attacks more often, you should use a Pokemon with Modest Nature as it increases the Special Attack. With that said, if you’re a fan of default stats on your Pokemon and wouldn’t want them to be affected in any way, then Neutral Natures are the way to go.
