How to Get Grimer

Although finding Grimer has been relatively easy in most other games since all you have to do is look for a sewer area, it’s a little different in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. By different, we mean difficult.

The reason for this is that Grimer is rather rare in the region of Paldea and can mainly be found in only two locations, with those being West Province Area Two, and East province Area Two. Because of their rarity, we recommend you take extra caution when you do come across one, as you don’t want to accidentally knock them out and miss your chance.

If you instead directly want to catch Grimer’s evolved form, Muk, then that will actually be even more difficult. Muk is ever found as a wild Pokemon in the region of Paldea, so the only two ways of getting one are either by evolving a Grimer, or by finding one in a raid.

How to Evolve Grimer into Muk

As mentioned above, it’s absolutely normal for it to take a while for a Grimer to evolve into a Muk, and although the evolution doesn’t require any evolution stones or any other special requirements to be made, it does require a lot of time and grinding.

This is because a Grimer evolves into Muk as soon as it gets to level 38, which is a much higher level than Pokemon with only one evolution usually require. Fortunately, you should be able to reach this level eventually by fighting against either wild Pokemon or by defeating the enemy trainers or gym leaders that challenge you.

If you feel like it’s taking too long, however, then there’s always the option to use EXP candies instead. The most consistent way of getting them is by completing Tera Raid Battle events that pop up around the region of Paldea.

The higher the star level, the better rated EXP candy you can expect to get when you complete it, although the chances of getting them are much higher in 6 star raids.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Muk is an exceptional Pokemon to have in your team. After all, what better way to win a Pokemon battle than by poisoning their strongest Pokemon and watching as its health goes down every turn?
