Pokemon Indigo Disk Release Time – Countdown Timer

For those of you who prefer a physical representation of the time, here is a countdown timer to when we believe the DLC will go live.

When does the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC release?

The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC will be released in two parts, in autumn 2023 and winter 2023, respectively. At the time of writing, the dates are as follows:

  • Part 1 The Teal Mask release date: Wednesday, 13 September 2023.
  • Part 2 The Indigo Disk release date: Thursday, 14 December 2023.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC was first unveiled back on Pokémon Day in February, with it being confirmed that it would be released in two halves. Part 1, The Teal Mask, arrived in autumn of this year, while Part 2, The Indigo Disk, will arrive in Winter.

In August of 2023, the Pokémon Company finally confirmed the date for Part 1 of the two-part DLC, with The Teal Mask confirmed to launch on Wednesday, 13 September. Nintendo has also provided a more specific launch date for The Indigo Disk with an announcement made through their official X account, stating the second part of the expansion will be released on Thursday, 14 December. Unfortunately, specific details regarding the contents of The Indigo Disk remain scarce at the time of writing.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC gameplay and story

The two parts of the DLC will be a part of the same overarching story but will take place in different locations across the Paldea region.

In Part 1, The Teal Mask, you’ll go on a school trip to Kitakami, a Japanese-inspired region where the story will centre around the Festival of Masks and the folklore of the area. Here, you’ll also be introduced to two new characters, Carmine and Kieran.

Part 2 The Indigo Disk will continue where The Teal Mask left off, with the player becoming an exchange student at Blueberry Academy, a school located underwater with a curriculum focused on Pokemon battling.

Indigo Disk will also include the Blueberry Academy League Club which offers new minigames such as searching for Dittos that transformed into blocks. The new Blueberry Academy quests can be taken on by yourself or with your friends. Completing them will earn you BP or Blueberry Points. These points can be used to do things such as bring trainers to the academy.

There is a new form of trading that takes place in the Indigo Disk DLC. When you trade with someone, the Pokemon will have a special ribbon that shows who it came from and will also receive a special tag in battle.

Finally, there are new Pokeball throw styles that you can learn so you can change up how you bring your Pokemon into battle. An exciting addition for those who like customization.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC release date: Ogerpon from The Teal Mask DLC

There will also be a few new Pokemon being introduced in the DLC. In The Teal Mask, Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti are added, taking inspiration from the dog, monkey, and pheasant in a Japanese folk tale called Momotarō.

Each DLC will also have its own legendary Pokemon, with Ogerpon in The Teal Mask and Tarapagos in The Indigo Disk, with rumours of a third legendary Pokemon, which is the cause of Paldea’s Terastal phenomenon.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC trailers

The first trailer was revealed back on Pokemon Day in February. It starts with a live-action video of a Japanese festival, similar to the one showcased in the DLC itself, as well as hinting at its links to the folk tale Momotarō. We’re then shown a cinematic of the school where Part 2 of the DLC takes place, as well as some art of the festival and some of the new characters.

The second trailer showcases some gameplay, introducing a few of the new characters, areas, and Pokemon, as well as showing us some of the returning Pokemon.

A third trailer then arrived in August, as part of a Pokémon Presents broadcast. This time, we got a closer look at the story for the expansion, which also included a bunch of Pokémon in their Terastal forms and, of course, the titular Teal Mask itself.
