Gimmighoul is an elusive new Ghost-type Pokemon that first showed up after the Dratini Community Day event in Pokemon Go. Shortly after the appearance of Golden Pokestops and the collection of mysterious Paldea coins, players found themselves being accompanied by this little creature.

This Pokemon Gimmighoul would guide players in collecting even more coins for itself but was not available for capture.

In this guide, we will take a look at how players can get their hands on their very own Gimmighoul in Pokemon Go.

Gimmighoul’s Appearance

Gimmighoul has only been seen in its Roaming form in Pokemon Go, but since the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, we have seen a different Chest Form for Gimmighoul too.

Roaming Form

Players who have played Pokemon Scarlet and Violet may find this little creature familiar. This is because the Pokemon Gimmighoul is found in Paldea, albeit with a different appearance.

The Gimmighoul we have seen in Pokemon Go is a small grey buglike creature carrying a singular gold coin while walking around on its short legs. The developers and community now refer to this as Roaming Form Gimmighoul.

Chest Form

Grimmighoul’s appearance in the new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet however is quite different. Its lower half is concealed with a treasure chest full of hundreds of gold coins that it plays around in. The chest itself has a unique design and seems to be a part of the Pokemon.

Many players have speculated as to the reason for this change in form and what it could mean.

Capturing Gimmighoul in Pokémon Go

Currently, there is no way to capture a Gimmighoul for yourself in Pokémon Go. Gimmighoul will simply follow players around in its Roaming Form while being unavailable for capture.

However, the Pokémon Go team has made several announcements saying they will make Grimmighoul available for capture

This means that Gimmighoul will be made available for capture to players who link their Pokemon Go account to their Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet accounts. This feature is not yet available and will be released in 2023.

The team has further specified that the link-up will allow you to capture the Roaming Form of Gimmighoul, not its Chest Form.

An Answer For The Golden Coins

This may finally lead us to get an answer for using the mysterious Golden Coins in Pokemon Go. Players could collect up to 100 Golden Coins, but there was no clear usage for them. Players now speculate that the coins will be used as material to evolve Roaming Form Gimmighoul into its Chest Form counterpart.

They may also serve as a material similar to Candy. Either way, there is good reason to be excited about this latest crossover event, especially for owners of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Final Thoughts

Players wanting to capture Gimmighoul will finally be able to do so in 2023. Pokemon Go will hold a crossover event with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet where players will be able to get Gimmighoul after linking up their respective accounts.
