Nightingale – how to fast travel and use Estate Cairns

Fast travel in Nightingale only functions to let you return to the Abeyance Realm you call home. It’s not available from the beginning, so there are a few steps to get through first before you can use it. As you can imagine, fast travel helps make your realm feel like a home.

How to fast travel in Nightingale

To fast travel in Nightingale, open your map and move your mouse to the left of the screen. Select the ‘Travel to Respite’ option. Before you can do this, you will need to have an Estate Cairn. Once you’ve established an Estate Cairn – which you will craft as part of your main objectives from Puck – you will be able to fast travel to this point. You will reach this part of the game naturally after escaping the tutorial.

You can craft as many Estate Cairns as you like, but you can only have one placed and active at any given time. Placing a new Estate Cairn will delete the previous one, losing your fast travel point in the process. With a new Estate Cairn down, you can now fast travel to that location. With that in mind, there are some limitations to this in Nightingale.

How does fast travel work in Nightingale?

Fast travel in Nightingale isn’t what you might expect. There aren’t waystones or anything for you to activate and use at a later date. You will only be able to fast travel back to your established Estate Cairn in your Abeyance Realm.

Above, you can see in the image I took there is an option under the watch that says ‘Travel to Respite’. Clicking this option will teleport you back to your established Estate Cairn. This can be done from within the Realm or while you’re visiting a different one.

This will come in handy when you’re out exploring another realm and you want to return home. The problem with this is that, due to the procedurally-generated nature of Nightingale, you won’t be able to return to the place you fast-travel from.

Faerie Rings in Nightingale

If you’re exploring a different realm away from your Respite Realm, you won’t find Estate Cairns. Instead, you will find Faerie Rings that will act as your respawn point if you die while exploring. Faerie Rings operates in the same way as a home base, letting you revive at a specific place.

Can I place more Estate Cairns?

Yes, but only one Estate Cairn can be active at once. Placing another down while one is active will destroy the first one. This lets you change where you make your home base.
