Nightingale Augments are used to help improve your Crafting Bench and various other structures in your base, granting various traits and bonuses to your crafting.

Augments work like this: craft a structure and then craft something near it. If you see green lines going between the two, you will see they have an Augment attached to them. There’s a little confusion as to what Augments are and how you get them, so lets clear that up.

What are Augments in Nightingale?

Augments, also called Augmentations, are small perks and bonuses that are tied to your crafted structures in Nightingale. In order for a structure to have an Augment, it needs to be built near a compatabile structure.

When you go to build something, you might notice that it has a green line linking it to another strucutre you have. If this is the case, build them near each other and you will access bonus passive effects called traits. You can find a list of compatible augmentations

A great example of this is demonstrated by making a wooden shelter for cover, placing a small camfire under the shelter, and then placing your bed roll next to the campfire. You will see the bed and the fire are joined by a green line, indicating your bed will grant a bonus to you since it will keep you warm during the night. This is what is known as an Augment in Nightingale.

Where to get Augments in Nightingale

Most of the structures you have in Nightingale have innate Augments – also called traits – that you can access from the start. You can unlock other Augments by finding them in the world or buying them from Essence Traders.

The best way to go about finding Augments in Nightingale is to explore your map and seek out Points of Interest. You will happen upon a bunch of things to do – such as enemies to kill and puzzles to solve – that will reward you in turn. While early on in the game, we don’t recommend spending your Essence at the Essence Traders for Augments, since Essence is fairly valuable.

To see what Augments your sturctures have, simply inspect them by selecting ‘Station Traits’ when you’ve chosen something to make. This will show a list of augments on the side and passive effects – both positive and negative – depending on various factors.

Regardless of how you get your Augments, you will want to make sure you’re making use of them. These items are vital to upgrading your camp and letting you expand the roster of what you can make. A bigger and badder base is always a good thing in survival game, after all.
