As a special item, Nightingale Charms are used to bolster your gear, granting various buffs and benefits to your equipment.
Different to Infusion, Charms are gear enhancements that can only be removed by replacing it with another one. You should be careful with your best Charms and where you equip them.

How to use Charms in Nightingale
Charms in Nightingale are essentially enhancements to your gear. After you pick on up, you will find it in your inventory. With one to hand, you can apply it to your gear. You can get Charms from treasure chests and rewards from quests. Suffice it to say, you will encounter more Charms than you will know what to do with in Nightingale.
When you have a Charm in your inventory, go to it and right-click the Charm. When you see the menu pop up, you can click on Apply. This will let you attach the Charm to a piece of your gear.
Some pieces of gear simply will not allow a Charm to be applied, and this is going to be the case with every piece of equipment that is of Common rarity. Anything above this will allow for Charms to be applied to your gear. Charms offer various perks and you will see what this is when you view it in your inventory.
Before you can put Charms on your gear, you will need to play through the game until you get higher-grade gear. This is obtained from buying from merchants, crafting, and as a reward from quests. Bear in mind that you cannot remove a Charm after you’ve placed it on your gear. The only way to get rid of a Charm is to replace one currently equipped with a new one.
