Are there mods for Nightingale?

Nightingale mods are slowly starting to crop up on Nexus Mods. At the moment, there isn’t anything other than visual fixes and a way to skip all the intro splash screens. Given that the game was released on Feb 20, it would be surprising to see new mods out in the wild already. To clarify, we’ve checked over at Nexus Mods and Gamebanana, and this is what we’ve found.

It stands to reason that there will be mods in the works, but these things take time with new games. It always depends on how the game was made and how difficult it is for people to extract files to edit or inject them back into the game files.

We’re fairly confident that mods for Nightingale will be prevalent, and the fact that it is in Early Access won’t stop determined modders. Even games like BG3 had mods during Early Access, so it wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility to see mods soon.

As ever, we’ll keep an eye on the modding scene and update this page when and if mods for Nightingale become available. Bear in mind that we are not endorsing the use of any mods, so install them at your own risk.

Does Nightingale support mods?

Funnily enough, Nightingale’s devs have released a statement about mods on the official website. The TL:DR of it is that the devs say that mods will create instability since the game is being actively developed.

They do go on to say, however, that any client-side mods that only change something for the user who installed the mod is totally fine, so long as it doesn’t interfere with gameplay or the official servers.

The post goes on to say: “While all mods are discouraged at this time, client-side mods will not be actively pursued or punished within reason”. It sounds fairly vague, but anything that modifies how something looks in your game is fine, so long as it doesn’t break anything for online play and makes you incredibly overpowered.

That’s it for Nightingale mods. For more, read our guides covering how to get Twitch drops in Nightingale and read up on whether you can play the game offline.

Nightingale mods FAQs

Will I get banned for modding?

It depends on the modification you download. The devs have said anything visual on your side of the game – UI, clothing – that doesn’t harm the experience for other players or mess with the servers is fine and won’t be punished.

How long does it take for mods to appear?

It can vary. Modders effectively need to datamine the game and extract files to then change. This can be a lengthy process depending on the game’s files and the engine it uses.
