Nightingale – portal won’t open bug
Sadly, the only way to fix the portal not opening bug is to make a brand-new character and play up to that point again. This is by no means a good fix, but it is the only way to get past the issue.
There might be an issue with some enemies not spawning in, or perhaps they’ve strayed far away from the Portal. If that’s the case, make sure you do a quick sweep of the area and look for any stragglers.
Outside of this, you could also just sit there with the game open doing nothing for about 10 minutes to see if that causes anything to change. It could be that something in the game is playing catch up and it will fix itself eventually.
You can also try closing the game down and re-launching, but this reportedly hasn’t worked for some folk. If you’ve exhausted all options, your only other choice is to restart the game from the beginning. With that said, this isn’t a perfect way to fix any bugs later in the game.
For whatever reason, this bug occurs when you are about to finish the tutorial and head to your home realm – otherwise known as an Abeyance Realm – to start your adventure. During the final part of the quest, you are tasked with opening a Portal and defeating three or four waves of enemies.
The problem is that once you’ve beaten all the foes, the portal never opens. This means you’re stuck there with nothing working. Naturally, this will be extremely frustrating to those who bought the game. Since this issue hasn’t happened to us, we can’t speak to the chances of it happening.
Since it is an Early Access title, you might be better off refunding your purchase and waiting for a more stable release. These are the risks you run when you buy Early Access games on Steam, so it’s up to you what you want to do.
