With an online world to explore, you and your friends can get right into the action. Now the game is out for PC on Steam and Epic Games, let’s look at when and how you can jump in with friends.

Make sure you read our guides covering Nightingale mods and whether or not Nightingale is coming to Switch. Now, on to Nightingale multiplayer information.

Is Nightingale Multiplayer?

Yes, Nightingale is a fully online multiplayer game, and there is currently no option to play Nightingale offline. With that in mind, you don’t have to play with other people as you explore the portals and realms in the game, and you can go through everything by yourself.

As everyone knows, however, games are more fun when shared. The co-op and multiplayer functions in Nightingale are front and centre, letting you join with your mates to tackle exploration, building, combat, and more together.

As it stands, the entire game can be played together from start to finish. As explained, you will always need an internet connection to play Nightingale, so bear this in mind.

How to play with friends in Nightingale

Getting started in Nightingale multiplayer is easy, but you first need to clear the tutorial section. You will know when this happens as you arrive in a new area after fighting off some monster before going into a portal. Once you’re in the new place, you will see a notification in the top left about the Party tab.

To begin exploring your online shared-world realmscape in Nightingale, you need to follow these instructions to start multiplayer:

  • Press P to bring up the party and social menu.
  • Click ‘Create Party’ and you will see your name take up the first slot in the tab.
  • Search for your friend’s name using the bar in the top left.
  • Send out invitations and have people join you.

It should be noted that Nightingale doesn’t support local co-op. At the moment, you can only play online with other people who have a copy of the game. Whether or not this feature will be added in the future is doubtful, but never say never.

Now that your friends have joined you, you can all set the place you join as your Home Realm. You do this by placing an Estate Cairn and setting the area as your Respite Realm. If all of you do this, you will always spawn in together in multiplayer and respawn there if you perish while exploring.

Nightingale party size

Nightingale supports up to six players in one party at once. This means there is room for you and five friends to jump in together and get through all the content the game has to offer. You don’t have to do this, mind you. You can play through the game without anyone else if you so choose.

Does Nightingale have multiplayer PvP?

No, there is no PvP multiplayer in Nightingale. The game is entirely PvE, and Inflexion Game has said that the PvE aspects of the game are its top priority going forward. Whether this will become a thing for the full release of Nightingale, remains to be seen.

That’s it for Nightingale multiplayer. For more guides, read our pages covering the best graphics settings in Nightingale and whether Nightingale will come to Game Pass.
