Since the launch of the COD HQ, you can preload Call of Duty updates before they become available. This is a privilege that has long been enjoyed by PlayStation users. To preload the Season 1 Reloaded update, simply set your PS4 or PS5 to update games automatically and you should get a notification for the new MW3 preload update on your console.
How to preload MW3 Season 1 Reloaded update
If your PlayStation console isn’t set to automatic updates, you can preload the MW3 update manually by going to the Modern Warfare 3 title in your game library, and select the “Check for update” option. Once the preload becomes available, you can download it.
How to preload for Xbox and PC
For Xbox, after turning on your Xbox console, go to your game library and locate MW3. Then select the “Manage games and add-ons” option. This will open a menu where you can view your download queue. Now simply check to see if Modern Warfare 3 is already set to download, and if not, you can add it to the top of the queue to preload the Season 1 Reloaded update.
To preload on PC via Steam, go to your game library and locate Modern Warfare 3. Then once the preload is available, simply click on the “Preload” button to download the update.

The game’s initial Season 1 update was over 50GB across all platforms, so we can expect the reloaded preload size to be at least 25-30GB as there isn’t a lot of new content coming to the Season 1 Reloaded update as opposed to a new season update.
So we’d suggest you prepare for an estimated 30GB update size for the preload. Depending on the platform you’re playing on, the size might be more or even less considering it’s the final update to the game before Season 2 kicks off.
