Although he was 98 overall last year in Madden 23 upon launch, it doesn’t come to the surprise of many that Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce became the latest member of the 99 Club and number one tight end. Everyone knows that the leader and biggest game changer of the Chiefs offense is quarterback Patrick Mahomes. But he would not be as effective without his legendary tight end, who’s had seven consecutive 1,000+ receiving yard seasons and three different campaigns with double digit touchdown figures. That’s more than deserving of a 99 OVR.

But the Chiefs star wasn’t the only tight end star to claim a 90+ overall spot. Right now, Madden 24 has four 90+ players just like they did in Madden 23. The tight end position is notably shallow, but there are some good ones. There are also some very nice options if you’re looking for something for franchise mode.

Travis Kelce – 99 overall

The man needs no introduction. Travis Kelce is a historic player and future first-ballot Hall of Famer. As long as his abilities don’t fade due to old age, he will never drop from the top spot in Madden tight end ratings. The Kansas City Chiefs have hardly any other options on their offense, but he still dominates. Everyone in the world knows the ball is going to him, and they still can’t stop him. That alone is a trait more than worthy of top marks on this list.

George Kittle – 96 overall

There was a time when George Kittle was considered the 1A to Travis Kelce’s 1B. That’s still sort of true since he is the second-highest rated tight end in Madden NFL, but the gap has grown a bit. Nevertheless, if not for a historically great player, Kittle would top this list. He’s an excellent receiver, but where he truly separates from the pack is in his blocking. Usually, a tight end is either in for pass-catching or blocking, but not both. Kittle excels in both areas, leading to a sterling 96 OVR in Madden 24.

Mark Andrews – 95 overall

Mark Andrews is an excellent tight end, a rare player who can also do a little bit of blocking and playmaking. He’s so good at getting open that he makes it easy for Lamar Jackson to find him. Even with the addition of Zay Flowers and Odell Beckham Jr., the offense still looks to Andrews first and most often. The tight end is a special talent, and his 95 OVR reflects that. He’s pretty young, so he will be at the top of this list for Madden for years to come.

T.J. Hockenson – 90 overall

T.J. Hockenson is a special playmaker. It is rare for a tight end to be so good in space, but Hockenson functions much like a wide receiver in that way. He’s a true YAC (yards after catch) specialist, and he’s someone the Minnesota Vikings try to get the ball to. He’s big, fast, and strong. All those traits are especially helpful for a tight end, and his production has forced Madden ratings adjustors to put him in the upper echelon for the position.

Kyle Pitts – 86 overall

Kyle Pitts may have more talent than most other tight ends. He is a physical freak, with speed, physicality, and more just oozing out of him. He can run routes with the best of them, has good hands to catch any ball, and he can outrun defenders on the way to the end zone. The trouble is that he plays for the Atlanta Falcons, one of the most run-heavy offenses in the league. They possess three starting-level running backs, so it’s easy to see why their tight end might not be as involved. He is as talented as they come, but the production just hasn’t quite been there. Hence, the 86 overall rating right now.
