While you can opt to run Kazuha as a main DPS, you will need more of his Constellations to make this build viable. The best way to build Kazuha is to use weapons with Elemental Mastery to capitalise on his support capabilities thanks to his amazing grouping Skill.

Kagotsurube Isshin – for Anemo DPS
- Lvl 90 Base ATK: Attack +510
- Lvl 90 Bonus Stat: ATK +41.3%
- Passive Effect: When a Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack hits an opponent, it will whip up a Hewing Gale, dealing AoE DMG equal to 180% of ATK and increasing ATK by 15% for 8s. This effect can be triggered once every 8s.
The Kagotsurube Isshin is a unique weapon you can get for free just by completing Kazuha’s Story Quest. It is a great sword for Kazuha, but only if you’re building him as a DPS-focused character over support. The ATK increase and the synergy with Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks are brilliant for Kazuha, but using this sword on a Support Kazuha won’t be very impressive.
The appeal for Kazuha to be your main DPS is enticing, but there are so many other characters who are better suited for this role. Furthermore, Kazuha can only main DPS reliably with a bunch of Constellations, which makes this an expensive investment for not much return.
Kazuha’s best build is Support
You absolutely can build Kazuha as a main DPS, but you are doing him a disservice by not focusing on his Swirl and EM builds. Further down, we say the best weapon is either the Iron Sting or the Freedom Sworn, specifically for support-based EM builds.
Favonius Sword

- Passive Effect: CRIT Hits have a 60% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12s.
In Kazuha’s case, the weapon is an amazing battery for Energy Recharge. Not only does it have a huge Energy Recharge sub stat, but it also has a skill that helps restore energy to your Kazuha and generate particles for your team even further. This will allow you to make use of his overpowered Elemental Burst to your heart’s content.
The Favonius Sword is always a brilliant choice for support characters, but the ER stat on this weapon could be considered overkill for Kazuha. We think that ER isn’t hugely important on Kazuha, to the point where you should only look for it in Artifact substats.
Xiphos’ Moonlight

- Passive Effect: The following effect will trigger every 10s: The equipping character will gain 0.036% Energy Recharge for each point of Elemental Mastery they possess for 12s, with nearby party members gaining 30% of this buff for the same duration. Multiple instances of this weapon can allow this buff to stack. This effect will still trigger even if the character is not on the field.Â
While you might not even know about this weapon due to it only being obtainable from certain wish banners, it is a uniquely effective four-star weapon for Kazuha who relies on Elemental Mastery.
The Elemental Mastery increase means it will synergize well with your Kazuha due to the nature of Swirl reactions. The most powerful aspect of this weapon, however, is the energy recharge it can provide to your team every 10s allowing you to improve your Burst uptime considerably. But honestly, who even has this sword? It hasn’t been on a weapon banner for a long time.
Sacrificial Sword
- Lvl 90 Base ATK: Attack +454
- Lvl 90 Bonus Stat: Energy Recharge +61.3%
- Passive Effect: After dealing damage to an opponent with an Elemental Skill, the skill has a 40% chance to end its own CD. Can only occur once every 30s.
If you don’t have any Kazuha Constellations, then you could consider using the Sacrificial Sword. The passive effect of this weapon effectively does what his C1 effect does: let Kazuha use his Skill more often. At C1, the cooldown for Kazuha’s Skill will end when you use his Burst. The Sacrificial Sword has a chance to end your Skill’s cooldown when you hit with your Skill.
To this end, they both do effectively the same thing and this is a good way to increase Kazuha’s Skill uptime if you don’t have him at C1. The ER provided is also nice, but you want this weapon for its passive effect, which means having some Refinement for the Sac Sword will work wonders.
Only use with C0 Kazuha
You should only use this weapon with Kazuha if he’s not at C1. This way you can effective get a budget Constellation through this weapon, giving you the same effect.
Toukabou Shigure

- Passive Effect: After an attack hits opponents, it will inflict an instance of Cursed Parasol upon one of them for 10s. This effect can be triggered once every 15s. If this opponent is defeated during Cursed Parasol’s duration, Cursed Parasol’s CD will be refreshed immediately. The character wielding this weapon will deal 16% more DMG to the opponent affected by Cursed Parasol.
As an event-exclusive weapon, the Toukabou Shigure is a fantastic pick for Kazuha, since it does a lot of what the Iron Sting does for him, but it’s much easier to R5 while still providing the same amount of EM and base attack at level 90. The difference is that Kazuha can do more personal damage to enemies thanks to the weapon’s passive effect. If you have Iron Sting, it’s really a toss-up between the two and they will both perform at the same level.
As mentioned, this is an event-exclusive weapon so you might not have it if you haven’t been playing Genshin for a long time. As of the latest patch, there is no way to replay old events and earn these time-limited weapons.

The Iron Sting is a craftable four-star weapon which makes it the easiest F2P option to get on this list, and it is our pick for Kazuha’s best weapon if you don’t have Freedom Sworn. Due to its nature as a craftable weapon, players can even boost it up to R5 with ease to achieve its maximum potential on Kazuha.
The weapon has a respectable base attack, but the appeal is the Elemental Mastery substat and the damage increase it gives when you deal Elemental DMG. Elemental Mastery will help make all your Swirl reactions hit much harder, and since Kazuha can Swirl up a storm, this will be extremely beneficial. It is a must-have for Free To Play Kazuha players with no better options.
Iron Sting is Kazuha’s best weapon
Outside of Freedom Sworn, Kazuha’s persona five-star weapon, we think the Iron Sting is the best weapon for Kazuha. It is amazing for his Swirl reactions, which will make grouping enemies and crowd-control easy.
Freedom Sworn
- Lvl 90 Base ATK: Attack +608
- Lvl 90 Bonus Stat: Elemental Mastery +198Â
- Passive Effect: Increases DMG by 10%. When characters with Freedom-Sworn trigger Elemental Reactions, they gain a Sigil of Rebellion (once every 0.5s). This triggers even if they aren’t on the field. When you reach 2 Sigils, they will be consumed which grants nearby party members 20% ATK and 16% Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack DMG for 12s. Once triggered, you gain no Sigils for 20s. The same buffs from the Millennial Movement series does not stack.
The Freedom Sworn is beyond busted in the hands of Kazuha. It is his signature weapon, and as such as all the stats he could possibly need, with a heft dose of EM to boot. As such, Freedom Sworn is one of the best weapons for Kazuha without contest. As a premium banner weapon that was specifically designed with Kazuha in mind, it’s no surprise why this weapon is considered the best choice for Kazuha.
The high base attack is great but not entirely necessary, but the best part of the Freedom Sworn is the EM substat and the passive skill. When triggered, this allows Kazuha to greatly buff the Attack of all his party members during his Elemental Burst. This makes it an ideal tool for Support and Sub-DPS builds.
Should you pull for Freedom Sworn
Generally speaking, we never recommend pulling on the weapon banner in Genshin Impact. It has too many variables and you aren’t guaranteed the weapon you want until your third time trying to get it. Due to this, it can be an expensive investment, so you have to decide for yourself if you want to wish on the weapon banner.
We will say that Freedom Sworn in particular is a phenomenally brilliant sword that pairs perfectly with Kazuha’s best build and role as a support thanks to the party-wide buff.
