Hot spots are a gameplay mechanic that was first released in Fortnite Season 9. This mechanic changes a couple of random places on the map and gives them extra loot. Due to this, hot spots usually have a lot of players landing at them.
How to find hot spots in Fortnite?
If you’re unsure how to find a hot spot in Fortnite, you simply need to open up the map. At the start of every game, several places will be marked with a yellow color, indicating hot spots. These places are random, and up to three of them may be designated as hot spots. Normally players will use the battle bus to select where to land, but with the come back of hot spots, players can now search for these spots.
Once you visit a Fortnite hot spot, you will notice Supply Drones flying around. To get extra loot, you need to take these drones down and pick up the items from them. On top of this, you will be able to collect loot from all the other sources, including floors and chests.

One of the new weekly quests in Fortnite requires you to collect Rare or better weapons at a hot spot. This is a relatively easy task, and you will have to visit a hot spot to complete it. You simply need to pick up Rare (Blue), Epic (Purple), or Legendary (Gold) weapons to complete the quest.
