How to unlock Magick Archer vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To unlock the Magick Archer vocation, you first need to travel to the Agamen Volcanic Island to the southeast of Battahl. If you haven’t unlocked the door that leads here from Bakbattahl through the main story, you can head southwest of Bakbattahl and travel through Drabnir’s Grotto to get there.

Once you’re through, on the path forward from Drabnir’s Grotto, you may come across a dwarf named Gautstafr. Talk to him, and he’ll give you the ‘Put a Spring in Thy Step’ side quest, asking for some wildflowers. Give him three wildflowers, either that you already have or have picked, and he’ll ask you to meet him at his home.

There are two paths you can take, one to the north and one to the south. While the southern one is longer, there tend to be fewer enemies here, so we recommend using this path as it may actually get you there faster.

At home, he will ask you to escort him to a hot spring nearby to try and heal his back. Agree to do so, and you’ll begin a fairly tedious escort mission to the Volcanic Island Camp to the east. Set off and follow the roads east, taking down any enemies you may come across, until you reach the Camp.

Inside the Camp, follow the northern slope around until you reach a ladder that leads up to the cave above you in the south of the camp. Head through this short cave and bring Gautstafr to the springs.

His wife, Cliodhna, will appear to thank you for helping her husband. She will reveal herself as the Magick Archer Maister, and as a reward she will teach you the Magick Archer vocation, as well as giving you the Spellbow’s Paradox, an item which teaches the ultimate weapon skill for the Magick Archer, Martyr’s Bolt.

Be aware that Magick Archer is one vocation that can only be used by the Arisen. If you were hoping to give one of your Pawns the Magick Archer vocation, your allies will just have to make do with either ranging or magic, not both.
