What is Potent Blood in Diablo 4?

Potent Blood is a resource used to unlock and upgrade vampiric powers in Diablo 4 Season 2. It is obtained by killing enemy vampires during the Blood Harvest activities. While the blood of Lilith protects you from being a servant of the vampire lord Zir, you still need to upgrade your vampire powers to threaten his dominion. These powers can be upgraded to level 3 with Potent Blood.

Vampiric powers enhance regular attacks and skills with special modifiers. These can be equipped in one of the Sanguine Circle’s five slots. Activating these powers requires you to equip armor with Pacts in them. These come in three types: Ferocity, Divinity, and Eternity. Note that Vampiric Powers can require any combination of these to be activated. These Pacts can be finetuned further by adding and removing them from equipment.

How to get Potent Blood in Diablo 4

Defeating vampiric monsters and opening Seekers Caches in a Blood Harvest net you Potent Blood in Diablo 4 Season 2. Unlike a Diablo 4 Helltide, Blood Harvest events can be accessed right from level 1. You can also take part in mini-quests like disrupting rituals or freeing prisoners. This ties into the existing Diablo 4 Whispers of the Dead mechanic if you’ve hit level 50. Blood Seeker enemies are your best bet at farming Potent Blood. Here are two items that will help you earn more Potent Blood:

  • Blood Lures – Used to draw out Blood Seekers who drop Potent Blood when killed.
  • Seeker Keys – Used to open Seekers Caches to earn more Potent Blood.

Potent Blood can only be earned in Season of Blood, meaning that Eternal Realm characters can’t use these vampiric powers. While it does mean starting from scratch, you don’t have to earn Diablo 4 renown all over again. This means you start with bonus skill points, paragon points, potion charges, and obol capacity upgrades. You can still find waypoints and discover altars of Lilith if you haven’t done so.
