Diablo 4 Strongholds can be found across Sanctuary, offering players what is best described as the overworld’s equivalent of a challenging dungeon. Typically, they spawn on a settlement or fortress that’s been overrun by enemies. Killing all the occupying foes is only part of the puzzle here, as completing a Stronghold requires you to take on unique activities, such as destroying certain landmarks, and then defeat a hulking mini-boss. For your efforts, you’ll get rewards of gold, weapons, armor, XP, and renown to contribute to region progress like side quests.

We’ll outline the location of all 15 Diablo 4 Stronghold locations across Sanctuary, three for each of the Diablo 4 map’s five major regions. To make getting between them easier, it’s worth learning how to get a mount in Diablo 4 and unlocking all the early-game Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks Waypoint locations.

Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks Strongholds locations

Nostrava

  • Bosses – Negala, Torvala, and Kozira

The Nostrava Stronghold is in the west of Fractured Peaks in a region of the same name. It’s west of Kyovashad, south The Pallid Gale and North of the Desolate Highlands where you start the game. From Kyovashad, head north then bear southwest and you’ll come to Nostrava. This Stronghold tasks you with clearing Demonic Effigies before facing three bosses.

Kor Dragan

  • Boss – Nilcar, the Forgotten Bishop

Kor Dragan is located in the north of Fractured Peaks, not far from the border with Scosglen. It’s due north from Kyovashad. From Kyovashad, head north in Sarkova Pass and follow the main road until you reach the Kor Dragan part of Fractured Peaks, which lends its name to the Stronghold. Clearing this Stronghold unlocks The Gathering Legions, a special zone event in Diablo 4. This Stronghold is filled with Vampiric Corruption that fuels Vampiric Incubators, both of which need to be extinguished before fighting the final boss.

Malnok

  • Boss – Frosthorn, Ice Clan Champion

The Malnok Stronghold is in the east of Fractured Peaks, sandwiched between the Frigid Expanse to the north, west, and south, and the Seat of the Heavens to the east. From Kyovashad, head east out into the wilds, when you can’t continue further east, go north and continue until you can turn south to find the Stronghold. You can also reach the Stronghold by heading south from the Bear Tribe Refuge Waypoint. It involves killing Ice Clan Stormcallers to stop a blizzard before tacking the main boss.

Temple of Rot

  • Boss – Molqarth

The Temple of Rot Stronghold is in the southwest of the Dry Steppes, and almost immediately north of the Jirandai Waypoint. To west of the Stronghold is the Fields of Hatred and to the east the Untamed Scarps. From Jirandai, go north and you’ll run straight into the Stronghold. Take care of four Cannibal Champions and you’ll get to fight a boss with two forms.

The Ruins of Qara-Yisu

  • Boss – Utulku, the Voice Below

The Ruins of Qara-Yisu Stronghold is the southeastern corner of the Dry Steppes, not far from the border with Kehjistan. It’s surrounded by The Accursed Wastes to the north, south, and east, and the Scouring Sands to the south. To reach the Stronghold, portal to the Hidden Overlook Waypoint in Jakha Basin, then head south. Destroy three Infernal Spires to draw the final boss out.

The Onyx Watchtower

  • Boss – Captain Ezmin

The Onyx Watchtower is located roughly in the middle of Dry Steppes, between Khargai Crags to the east and south, and Kotama Grasslands to the north and west. The nearest settlement and Waypoint are in Kel Bardu to the north. From the city, head south along the main road in Khargai Crags, then head southwest to find the Stronghold. Slay the Captain’s lieutenants and lay siege to his watchtower before facing him in combat. Lieutenants Thidrek the Beast-Master, Crocus the Greedy, Talida the Lookout, and Hagrin the Quartermaster are simple foes compared to the stealth-heavy Captain Ezmin.

Hope’s Light

  • Boss – Tidewitch Ne’gana

The Hope’s Light Stronghold can be found in the northernmost part of Scosglen and the entire Diablo 4 Sanctuary map on a jagged peninsula that juts out from the mainland. It’s north of Northshore and northeast of the Marowen Waypoint. Repair broken winches on your patch to the Tidewitch.

Moordaine Lodge

  • Boss – Fionnir the Mad Druid

The Moordaine Lodge Stronghold is in the northeast of Scosglen and the northeasternmost corner of the whole of Sanctuary. It’s north of The Shrouded Moors and east of Strand. To reach the Stronghold, we recommend fast travelling to the Tirmair Waypoint then travelling north. Locate three hunters before jousting with the Mad Druid.

Tur Dulra

  • Boss – Infernal Tormentor

Tur Dulra is in the westernmost portion of Scosglen, where the mainland meets the sea. It’s encircled by the Deep Forest on the west and south. The easiest way to reach the Stronghold is to head north from the Farobru Waypoint in the north of the Dry Steppes. Free three spirits before knocking down the boss. This Stronghold is particularly important for players of the Druid class. This is because Spirit Boons, their class mechanic, is locked behind clearing Tur Dulra.

Alcarnus

  • Boss – Rashta Reborn

Found in the northeast of Kehjistan, you’ll find the Alcarnus Stronghold between Scouring Sands to the east and Amber Sands to the west. Though not in Kehjistan, heading south from the Jirandai Waypoint in the Dry Steppes and bearing west as soon as you enter Kehjistan is your best bet to reach the Stronghold. Destroy three Necrotic Masses and the carnage will lead you to the boss Necromancer.

Altar of Ruin

  • Boss – Dark Cardinal Maldul

The Altar of Ruin Diablo 4 Stronghold is north of Kehjistan, on the border with the Dry Steppes and the Dry Steppes Fields of Hatred. The Amber Sands side it on all sides except the north. From the Iron Wolves Encampment, head north and you’ll find the Stronghold. Find three Keystones to unlock a Ritual Chamber before throwing hands with the boss.

Omath’s Redoubt

  • Boss – High Priestess Hadar

The Omath’s Redoubt Stronghold is in the south of Kehjistan, roughly on the southern border of the entire Diablo 4 map. To the east of the Stronghold are the Kehjistan Fields of Hatred, with the Southern Expanse to the west. You can reach the Stronghold by heading east from the Gea Kul Waypoint. You’ll be asked to investigate four Kehjistani bodies and interact with a Ceremonial Staff before fighting the Stronghold’s boss.

Vyersez

  • Boss – Vyeresz

You’ll find the Vyersez Diablo 4 Stronghold in the south of Hawezar just north of the Toxic Fens. The Ruins of Rakhat Keep is a good place to start your search for the Stronghold. Head south from there into the Fethis Wetlands then continue south. Clear three Serpent’s Eye Shrines to lure out the boss.

Crusaders’ Monument

  • Bosses – Crusader Champions

The Crusaders’ Monument Stronghold sits on the border with Kehjistan in the west of Hawezar and north of Umir Plateau. We recommend going to the Zarbinzet Waypoint then trekking north to find the Stronghold. Look out for three Graverobber’s corpses for Crusader’s Skulls.

Eriman’s Pyre

  • Boss – Duz’Agur, Erimane’s Bane

Eriman’s Pyre is in the north of Hawezar on the border with Fractured Peaks. It’s between Dismal Foothills to the west and The Writing Mire to the east. From the Wejinhani Warpoint, you’ll want to head northeast to find the Stronghold. Collect Villager’s Remains from Elites before dispersing the boss.
