Money makes the world go round, so if you know how to get gold fast, you’re bound to put yourself ahead of the competition. Now while we can’t help you with this in real life, we do have you covered for Diablo 4. Gold is dished out fairly liberally from taking on much of what Blizzard’s new demon-infested world has to offer, but there are times when you need a quick influx of cash for a coveted piece of gear. This is especially relevant as vendors switch up their stock regularly, and it can be gutting to miss out on particularly enticing weapons or armour. So, how do you get gold fast in Diablo 4?
There are plenty of small and quick ways to snatch up some gold, and other rare items that’ll lead to more gold, like Diablo 4 Murmuring Obols. For this guide though, we’ll be breaking down the most effective ways to get gold in the game. Be sure to check out all the Diablo 4 Season 1 details as well.
How to farm gold in Diablo 4
Here are seven ways to maximise your gold earnings in Diablo 4:
- Side dungeons
- Cellars
- World events
- Side quests
- Selling gear
- Region progress rewards
- Roaming
Side dungeons
In classic series fashion, dungeons are a surefire way to get gold fast in Diablo 4. Ideally, you’ll want to complete the dungeon by defeating the final boss and killing most, if not all, mobs. In the Diablo 4 beta -soon to go live with the server slam – there are 23 different dungeons, giving you plenty of opportunities to hoover up gold. A single dungeon can easily net you thousands
Cellars
Similar to dungeons, cellars are bite-sized versions where you’ll have to take on a single minor boss and a few minions. The gold haul isn’t quite as substantial as dungeons, but cellars are much quicker to complete, so they require a smaller time investment for a decent gold return in Diablo 4.
World Events
As you roam around Sanctuary, you’ll occasionally see an orange triangle with three dots pop up on your mini-map, denoting a world event. Head towards the triangle, and it will shift to an orange ring, signaling the area where the event takes place.
These usually involve a small boss, pressure plates, effigies you have to destroy, NPCs you have to protect, or waves of minions you have to fight through or fend off for a few minutes. Though we wouldn’t recommend exclusively seeking these out if you’re on the hunt for gold, don’t pass up on them as you explore. The gold reward is decent and comes with XP and gear you can sell for gold, which we’ll cover later.
Side Quests
In the Diablo 4 beta alone, there are 35 side quests. We expect that number to balloon tenfold when the full game launches this summer. These side quests, which don’t involve a huge time commitment, tend to reward players with a hefty stack of gold upon completion. Solving the Secret of the Spring riddle is a good example of this. Side quests are marked on the map as blue exclamation marks.
Sell Gear
You’ll quickly fill up your inventory with gear by killing enemies, completing dungeons, looting chests, and so on. Most of the gear you come across is worthless but can be sold at the weapon and armour vendors in towns and cities across Sanctuary for a sizable profit. Rare and legendary items sell for the most gold, but it’s worth selling any item you don’t need, as every little bit helps. If your inventory is full, don’t hesitate to portal to the nearest town to sell the gear, then return to whatever you were doing.
Region Progress Rewards
Open up the map, hover over a region of Sanctuary, and tap the W key on your keyboard to bring up Region Progress. Here, you’ll get a breakdown of all the side dungeons, side quests, strongholds, Waypoints, Altars of Lilith, and so on you’ve ticked off, condensed into what are called Renown points.
At certain Renown point milestones, you’ll tick off achievements that grant hefty rewards, including gold, tens of thousands of the stuff in some cases. Remember to check your progress regularly and claim the rewards. For an even bigger haul of gold (60,000 and 150,000 gold, for example), switch to a higher World Tier such as Veteran or Nightmare. As an added benefit, high World Tiers boost monster gold drops by 15%.
Roaming
Lastly, roaming around Sanctuary in Diablo 4 is a reliable way to get gold. Look out for chests, casks, tree chunks, and loose stones, and take on any enemies you come across. Spending as little as 15 minutes exploring can net you a few thousand.
That covers all our recommendations for the best ways on how to get gold fast in Diablo 4. This isn’t an exhaustive list; tackling tougher enemies like The Butcher boss battle are also good, if less efficient, ways of getting gold for example. Take this advice to heart though and however you choose to play the game, you’re bound to be rolling in coins in no time.
