A Plague Tale: Requiem – All Secret Chest Locations

Dotted throughout the 17 chapters that make up A Plague Tale: Requiem are secret chests. Often concealed in hidden rooms or nestled on seemingly inaccessible ledges, these chests contain a bounty of valuable supplies, including tool upgrades.

Larger and more imposing than the ordinary crates and chests you’ll come across, secret chests are recognizable by the lavish red, patterned cloth draped across the front. Interact with one, and not only will you get the previously mentioned supplies, but these chests double as a workbench. Note that a knife is required to open a secret chest, so we recommend always having one at hand, just in case.

Below, we break down the location of all 10 secret chests in A Plague Tale: Requiem, along with the steps to reach them. Once you’ve found and opened them all, you’ll unlock the Explorer achievement.

A Plague Tale Requiem – Secret Chest Locations

Secret Chest 1/10 – Chapter 3 -Burden of Blood

During The Warehouse portion of Chapter 3 – Burden of Blood, you’ll come to a depot after escaping the prison. Here Anicia needs to find her sling and the nightshade. Head down the ladder, then straight ahead to the back of the depot. The secret chest is located on the right.

Secret Chest 2/10 Chapter 4 – Protector’s Duty

This chest is found during the Risky Itinerary portion of Chapter 4 – Protector’s Duty. Continue forward until you pass through the gate then light and use a brazier to get past the rats. Instead of pushing the brazier forward, turn left and continue towards the ladder. Climb the ladder to find the secret chest.

Secret Chest 3/10 – Chapter 5 – In Our Wake

After destroying the ferry’s chain and crossing the water during Chapter 5 In our Wake, head to the back of the ferry building. Squeeze through a small gap in a fence, then climb up into the attic of the building to find a secret chest. Should you need a knife to open the chest, there’s one next to a pile of wooden beams back on the coast.

Secret Chest 4/10 – Chapter 6 – Leaving All Behind

After making your way through the quarry and in the house in the Call of the Rats portion of Chapter 6 – Leaving All Behind, look for a gated room just after the entrance with a secret chest inside. To access it, backtrack a few steps and crawl through the space on the right.

Secret Chest 5/10 – Chapter 7 – Felons

Reach the cave housing a shipwreck and a horde of rats during the More Rats portion of Chapter 7 – Felons. Make your way through until you come to a coffin leading to the Smuggler’s Hideout and your first encounter with Sophia. Before moving the coffin, head right, then crouch to access a smaller boat. On board you’ll find a secret chest.

Secret Chest 6/10 – Chapter 9 – Tales and Revelations

Found during Chapter 9 – Tales and Revelations. Head to the large stone tower on the left hand side of the chapter’s large open area. If you’re having trouble finding it, head down the stairs at the front of the palace and follow the river to the left. Once at the tower, head round to the left and shoot through the window to unlock the door. Enter and climb up the first floor to find a secret chest.

Secret Chest 7/10 – Chapter 9 – Tales and Revelations

This secret is found on the path to the sanctuary, during the On the Mountain portion of Chapter 9 – Tales and Revelations. After meeting the goat herder, head left and continue forward until you have to climb a ledge to progress. You’ll pass by the ruins where Tramontane the goat is stuck. Continue forward and climb up the ledge straight ahead. Look for yet another ledge on your left. It’s slightly setback and easily missed. Climb up and follow the path to find the secret chest in a clearing.

Secret Chest 8/10 – Chapter 10 – Bloodline

Found during the In The Courtyard portion of Chapter 10 – Bloodline. After entering the fort courtyard and reuniting with Sophia look up to your right for a ledge with the secret chest. You’ll need to make your way there, but first take a detour to the left to pick up a stick. Using Sophia’s prism to hop from fire to fire until you can climb the stairs to the ledge and reach the next A Plague Tale: Requiem secret chest. Remember to keep the stick as you do this as it makes getting back to the mission path through the rats easier.

Secret Chest 9/10 – Chapter 11 – The Cradle of Centuries

Found during the bridge puzzle in the Rat Tank portion of Chapter 11 – The Cradle of Centuries. Make your way through the area, raising the bridges as you go to help Hugo and Sophia get across. After detaching releasing the last chain/bridge, head through the gap and immediately head left. You find another opening with a secret chest inside.

Secret Chest 10/10 – Chapter 13 – Nothing Left

Found during the Reach the Port section of Chapter 13 – Nothing Left. Just before reaching Arnaud, you’ll pass under a flower garland that’s on fire. Pass underneath then take a left to find a cart. Push it to the ledge (careful here as one ledge continues down the mission path) – the one on the left, closest to the garland. Climb up and through the door to find the next A Plague Tale: Requiem secret chest.
