Resident Evil 4 Remake Clockwork Castellan Info

1st Castellan

The first Castellan in Resident Evil 4 Remake can be discovered shortly after meeting the merchant for the first time, once Leon recovers his gear in Chapter 2.

After grabbing the key needed to proceed from the valley and unlocking the door, Leon will approach an area littered with bear traps and crows pecking at the ground. There is a small cabin to the left of this area, the castellan and a note giving some brief context on them are inside.

2nd Castellan

The second Clockwork Castellan is located at the merchant’s dock just after the quarry. take the ladder down from the merchant’s shop and walk along the walkway on the right. The doll is standing atop some boxes in the corner, though it’s well hidden and will require some careful aiming.

3rd Castellan

The third Clockwork Castellan is fairly out of the way and will require some exploration to locate. Thankfully, chapter four encourages this once you gain access to the boat.

Once out on the lake, head back up towards the Lakeside Settlement, take out the villagers and open the previously locked door with the insignia key. Inside you’ll be able to climb up to the Forest Altar and find the third Castellan.

4th Castellan

The Lakeside Settlement pulls double Castellan duty in chapter four, and this one is easier to find than the last. Just head into the large shack on the west side of the Settlement to find and shatter the Castellan.

5th Castellan

The fifth Castellan will require backtracking to the Village Chief’s Manor. While it’s a little out of the way, the rewards are well worth it.

Head back up to the manor bedroom and pull the switch behind the painting on the wall. A ladder will drop down, and Ashley will be able to climb up and kick it down for Leon.

Climb the ladder to find yourself in the attic. As well as some interesting lore and valuables, the fifth Castellan can be found on the left side of the attic.

6th Castellan

The sixth Castellan can be found right towards the start of chapter 6, before the action really kicks off and propels you forward. Just before entering the checkpoint area there will be a fire with the Castellan located right next to it.

7th Castellan

The seventh Castellan can be found after meeting its likeness, Ramon Salazar. After exiting the castle dungeon in chapter 7 and before entering the treasury, you’ll find the Castellan on an upper shelf in the storeroom.

8th Castellan

Clockwork Castellan Rewards

Tracking down and destroying all of these mechanical monstrosities had better be worth a decent reward, right? Thankfully, destroying every castellan does net you something very cool for your trouble.

The Primal Knife is obtained by destroying every hidden doll, and this tool can eventually be upgraded to be completely unbreakable. Parrying every attack coming your way – from sickle swipes to roaring chainsaws – is one hell of an upgrade over broken knives and fearful scrambling.

The bad news is, since you’ll have to shatter a clockwork castellan in every single chapter, your first playthrough will be over by the time you’ve claimed your reward.

Thankfully, the Primal Knife carries over to subsequent playthroughs, making return trips through Resident Evil 4 Remake that much smoother.
