The short answer is yes, you can play PS5 games with the PSVR 2.

Can you play PS5 games with the PSVR 2’s Cinematic Mode?

You can play PS5 games with the PSVR 2. As long as you’re wearing the headset, you can run visuals through it and everything you would normally see on your PS5’s TV is instead displayed by the headset.

It doesn’t actually turn them into VR games, so you likely won’t be able to use the motion controls. But, it does immerse you fully into whatever you’re playing.

It allows you to do this via the Cinematic Mode, which not only lets you play games, but also consume your favourite video content. For example, you might want to watch Netflix or Disney+ with your VR headset.

However, there is one drawback. If you’re using cinematic mode, the headset downscales 4K visuals to 1080p, which isn’t really a huge a problem if you’re watching video.

We’re going to be testing out the PSVR 2 and covering other, equally pressing, questions. For example, what is PSVR 2 see-through mode. Make sure to check back in with us periodically for the latest updates on the PSVR 2 – including our review which is coming very soon.
