If you have a preferred pair of headphones, you’ll be wondering – can you wear over ear headphones on the PSVR 2? The short answer is yet, but allow us to explain a little further.
As you can read in our PSVR 2 review, this headset is fantastic and Sony is gearing up for its release, which is today. We’ve already covered whether you can wear the PSVR 2 with glasses, so now we’re going to talk about audio upgrades.
The PSVR 2 comes with earbuds that rather neatly fit into the underside of the headband. But what about if you already have your own preferred set of headphones?

Can you wear over ear headphones with the PSVR 2?
The answer is yes, although there is limited space inside the headset for bulkier headphones. If your headphones are slightly bulkier than most, then they might struggle to fit. They might also make the headset uncomfortable to wear.
Worse still if the earcups of the headphones in question end up resting on the headband, it compromises the seal. This can have a significant knock-on effect regarding the audio quality.
However, don’t worry about this too much. We’ve tested the PSVR 2 fit with a few different pairs of headphones. We found the majority of over ear headphones will work with the PSVR 2. The only bulky culprit to look out for is the Sony XB1000s, or something similarly large.
And what about compatibility? We’ll discuss everything below.
Does the PSVR 2 have an audio jack?
We’re pleasantly surprised to see Sony has included the much loved 3.5mm jack on the underside of the rear headband of the PSVR 2.
The good news is that this means almost any pair of headphones or earbuds will work with the PSVR 2. Additionally, if you use headphones or a headset that connects to the pS5 via USB, these will also work fine during gameplay or content consumption with the PSVR 2.
All this makes us even more excited for the PSVR 2 release later today. You can keep up with all the important news here.
