Best TV for PS5

Below are our top TVs for PS5. We have tried to cover a variety of price points, without sacrificing quality.

Best QD-OLED TV for PS5 – S95B

Size: 55-inch, 65-inch | Resolution: 4K UHD | Panel type: QD-OLED | Refresh rate: 120 Hz | Connectivity: 4 x HDMI 2.1
Check Price: Samsung S95B

The Samsung S95B is the best QD-OLED gaming TV for PS5 – hands down. Aside from being one of the first 120Hz OLED TVs, it was also one of the first QD-OLED TVs.

QD stands for a Quantum Dot, which is a form of semi conductors in which colours are illuminated by UV light – essentially allowing the pixels in the TV to be even brighter and more vibrant.

For this unique quality, the S95B alongside the Sony A95K and LG C2 are among the best TVs for gaming on PS5.

We’ve seen that the best TVs for gaming are often OLED TVs that can display refresh rates up to 120Hz – making them perfect for next-gen gaming. Furthermore, having HDMI 2.1 connectivity is also key to enable them compatibility with 4K gaming at 120Hz.

The S95B covers all bases, and perhaps goes above and beyond the requirements for the best TV for PS5.

Best overall gaming TV for PS5 – LG C2

Size: 55-inch | Resolution: 4K UHD | Panel type: OLED | Refresh Rate: 120Hz | Connectivity: 4 x HDMI 2.1
Check Price: LG C2

The LG C2 is the best TV you can buy for your PS5. Not only that, but it’s probably one of the best TVs on the market at the moment, sitting level with the S95B.

The incredible 4K resolution is bolstered by an OLED panel and 120Hz refresh rate – the quality of which is top unparalleled unless you’re factoring in TVs such as the LG G2 or Sony A95K.

Alongside the 4 x HDMI 2.1 outputs, VRR helps synchronise the refresh rate with your PS5 – while ALLM ensures that any input lag is minimised. If you’re wondering if the LG C2 is bright enough, it pushes out 200 cd/m2 candelas – and actually performs well in bright rooms.

The LG C2 comes equipped with webOS 22 – which is a popular rival to Android TV.

It’s unlikely you’ll be pushing out competitive gaming on your LG C2, though the immersive gaming on more graphically intensive games is a true spectacle.

Furthermore, if your TV doubles up as a workstation display, the LG C2 is capable of displaying 12-bit colour depth with certain 1080p / 1440p configurations.

Charlie says: ‘You’re paying a premium but this is a TV that you won’t be replacing for years. What’s great here are the 4 HDMI 2.1 ports – many older models, like the BX, just have two, which limits 120Hz at 4K connectivity. If budget is no option, the G1 is a fantastic option and will serve gamers well’

OLED technology has been flourishing recently, though it is challenged in terms of picture quality by NanoCell technology. Check out this NanoCell vs OLED TV article to find out which screen type will suit you more.

“It features an efficient VA panel that delivers excellent native contrast and deep blacks that help to create an immersive visual experience. Better yet, you get all this at a fairly reasonable price that undercuts many of its rivals”

Charlie says: “Still a truly stunning TV – despite the C2 coming out. It’s actually a great time to get the C1 as the price is starting to come down – after holding it for so long. It’s stylish and packs a ton of punch for the money. One of the all time greats for gaming.”

Best cheap gaming TV for PS5 – TCL Class 4-Series 55S455

Size: 55-inch | Resolution: 4K UHD (3840 x 2160p) | Panel Type: LED | Refresh Rate: 60Hz | Connectivity: HDMI 2.0b x 4
Check Price: TCL Class 4-Series 55S455

The PS5 isn’t cheap. For many of us, getting it alone nearly emptied the wallet. If you want to keep costs to a minimum, the TCL 55S455 is for you.

This TV is the perfect entry point to 4K displays on a tight budget. No longer is console gaming limited to mid-resolution and small monitors. The TCL 55S455 allows anyone to enjoy 4K, which used to be reserved for those with deep pockets.

After plugging in your console, the TV automatically switches to Game Mode which optimizes latency. With HDR enabled the blacks are adequately deep. Though, as it is an LED panel the brightness leaves a lot to be desired.

For some PS5 Gamers who play games with lighter color palettes, this might not be a problem. But for those who play immersive, densely populated games this may be something to consider when purchasing.

A significant choke-point for the TV is the 60Hz limitation, but for most casual gamers this shouldn’t be a huge concern.

Overall, what you trade for in quality and perfection, you receive in value. This TV is an excellent 4K Gaming TV for PS5, especially for such an amicable price tag.

Check the TCL Class-4 TV price here.

Charlie says: “If you’re looking for a budget-tailored TV that delivers a pleasant visual experience, you really can’t go wrong with the 55S455 from TCL. Despite featuring some minor flaws, its overall performance is respectable – especially when you consider its price point.

“Alongside deep blacks, a wide contrast ratio, and decent reflection handling, this display also offers HDMI 2.1 support – allowing next-gen console players to reap the rewards of [email protected] gameplay.”

Best underrated TV for PS5 – LG BX

Size: 55-inch | Resolution: 4K UHD (3840 x 2160p) | Panel Type: LED | Refresh Rate: 120Hz | Connectivity: 2 (Rear)/2 (Side) (2 x HDMI 2.1, 2 x HDMI 2.0)
Check Price: LG BX

We’ve had hands on with now discontinued LG BX and we absolutely love it. When people talk about LG TVs, they immediately shift to the C1 / CX but the B1 / BX is nearly as good and comes in far cheaper.

The picture quality is top notch, with deep blacks and tons of internal processors to ensure a silky smooth picture during scenes with plenty of movement. Thanks to a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports, you’re set for the future, with the BX supporting Nvidia Game Mode and 120Hz gaming at 4K resolution.

The BX looks stunning, especially when on a stand – and the signature LG controller is a joy to use. Blacks are not quite as deep as the more expensive C1, and the menu can be a little ‘jumpy’ sometimes as the processor is different to the flagship model in that range, but these are just minor gripes in what is surely one of the best value, and most underrated, TVs out there.

Check the price of the LG BX right here

Charlie says: “The BX was always in the shadow of the C1, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad TV. Far from it, in fact. With two HDMI 2.1 ports, a stunning picture and stylish looks, the B1 is everything you want from a SMART TV.

“The menus are easy to navigate, and there plenty of software updates to keep your TV running smoothly. If the C1 is slightly out of budget, The BX is a worthy contender and will serve you well for years to come.”

Best TV for PS5 under $1000 / £1,000 – Samsung Q60B

Check Price: Samsung Q60B

With Quantum HDR – colors burst to life on the Samsung Q60B TV. The quantum dot display matrix is part of this TV’s charm, and the stunning 4K UHD resolution consolidates its position as one of the best budget TVs for PS5.

The only downside that the TVs low price brings is the lack of HDMI 2.1 – which you need to game in 4K at 120Hz.

However, not all games on the PS5 support HDMI 2.1 gaming at 120Hz yet, so this isn’t a huge problem.

We’d highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for the best TV for PS5 on a budget, as the Samsung Q60B really packs a punch without damaging the wallet too much.

Best TV for PS5 FAQ

What size TV is best for PS5?

This all depends on your viewing preference. If you prefer to sit close, a monster screen can actually be pretty jarring on the eye – and the image quality may look poorer. The solution is to opt for a much smaller TV around the 32ins mark, or even better a monitor. If the PS5 is plugged into your main TV in the living area, and you prefer to game at distance, 55ins is definitely recommended. It gives you tons of size without overpowering the room or blowing up the 4K image to a point where quality suffers.

Is HDMI 2.1 worth it for PS5?

In short, yes. It’ll give you a far better experience than gaming at 60Hz. It does however depend on what games you like playing. RPGs and story driven games, with less focus on reaction time may not warrant an upgrade. However multiplayer shooters are far more enjoyable and responsive when played at 120Hz.

What Hz should a PS5 TV be?

At least 120Hz with HDMI 2.1 bandwidth – this will allow you to play games at 4K, up to 120fps.

Do I need an OLED TV for gaming on PS5?

An OLED TV isn’t a necessity for next-generation gaming, however the visual quality drastically improves when you immerse yourself in OLED gaming.

Do I need VRR to game with a PS5?

VRR is needed for anyone looking to best enjoy their PS5 at high refresh rates – and is highly recommended.
