It’s been months since the release of Hogwarts Legacy on PS5, and Potterheads have long awaited the game’s arrival on PS4. So, is there early access for Hogwarts Legacy PS4?
When it first dropped in February, fans who bought the Limited Edition on current gen consoles and PC, users had a 72 Hour Early Access period.
For PS4 and Xbox One players, there won’t be an early access period on Hogwarts Legacy. If it’s any consolation, the game developers have shared their reasoning on the official website, stating:
“To get everyone in the game as early as possible, the Hogwarts Legacy Standard Standard and Deluxe Editions for PlayStation4 and Xbox One will launch together on May 5th, 2023 without Early Access.”
Given the game has already been out since February, it’s understandable there won’t be an Early Access period given the game developers have had plenty of time to iron out software bugs. Indeed, there’s already a rumoured day one patch for Hogwarts Legacy on PS5 and Xbox One.
According to the official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account, you can play from midnight local time on a rolling per region basis. So keep those eyes peeled!
Hogwarts Legacy PS4 early access date
As we’ve already established, there is no early access date for PS4 players. Instead, they will be able to play Hogwarts Legacy from May 5th after an unexpected delay.
It looks like it’s going to be the same story for Nintendo Switch players. Hogwarts Legacy does not come to Switch until July 25th with no promise of early access.
On the plus side, there could be fewer bugs and glitches for PS4 and Xbox One Hogwarts Legacy players. There was no shortage of issues around February and March including players reportedly getting stuck under the map, or the game simply crashing for PC players. Since the game has been out since February, there’s a small slither of hope that the game developers have made the necessary improvements ahead of the May 5th launch.
There’s plenty to be excited about – the game features a voice cast that includes Simon Pegg, Sebastian Croft, Luke Youngblood and more.
In the meantime, players wanting to visit the Wizarding World can do so on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC – and if you want to know if your PC can run the game, check out the system requirements here.
