The Automatons are back in Helldivers 2 just one day after being eradicated in last weekend’s Major Order. This came following the failure of a Major Order on April 1st that saw the Automatons gain the upper hand. Following the loss, the Helldivers came back with a vengeance and completely removed the robots from the galaxy…or so they thought.

A new Major Order is now live in Helldivers 2 and the Automatons have returned, but this time with more firepower than we’ve ever seen in the game after “tens of thousands of warships” have suddenly appeared in the Valdis Sector. Recently, players have been reporting seeing cloaked ships in the skies and many speculated as to whether this was The Illuminate biding their time before making their presence known. But, it looks like it may have been The Automatons preparing for this next battle in the fight against the Helldivers.

After the Automatons suddenly appeared in the Valdis Sector, they began to attack the Lacaille Sector as the robots looked to expand their stronghold on the universe once again. The new Major Order that has just gone live in Helldivers 2 will see Helldivers defend five planets from the Automatons, fighting on the back foot in this new onslaught by the robot army.

This new Major Order is set to end in three days, meaning we can expect it to end on April 12th, but this will be the first of many Major Orders that focus on fighting this new Automaton army. After the robots were seemingly eradicated, players had to briefly turn their attention back to the Terminids, but now it seems like they have been forgotten about once again. It will be interesting to see what the Terminids do during this period of downtime for them as they now have an opportunity to grow in numbers and power.

Arrowhead Game Studios announced the new Major Order in a post on the Helldivers 2 X account, as well as more information being given in-game which you can read below.

“A massive Automaton Invasion Fleet, comprising of tens of thousands of warships, arrived from FTL jump to the Valdis Sector and overran nearly every planet in just hours. Attacks on communications networks delayed warnings until now. SEAF reserves are scrambling. All Helldivers are called to deploy immediately to the defense. This Fleet dwarfs the Automatons armies destroyed in Operation Swift Disassembly. As we predicted from the start, they were merely a vanguard. This is the Automatons’ true force. Where the Automatons hid this fleet, and what their true intentions are – those questions must be answered later. The Reclamation has begun.”
