The First Descendant fans are set to receive a new update this week. Nexon announced upcoming changes in response to complaints from fans at the very beginning of Season 1. While the changes set to be made this week are good and definitely welcomed, it’s the massive multiplayer update promised for the future that The First Descendant fans should most anticipate.

Season 1 has introduced a new playable character to TFD, and fans have shared an important PSA for unlocking Hailey Scott as soon as possible. Nexon changed the Season 1 schedule into two parts, and the second update will arrive on October 10th. Then, according to the The First Descendant 2024 roadmap, Season 2 will debut in early-December, and it’s possible the identity of the new Descendant has already leaked.

While there is Ultimate Freyna and the arrival of Season 2 to anticipate in the coming months, soon we will also be treated to a multiplayer update that will make Invasion Dungeons so much better and easier.

The First Descendant devs announce multiplayer mode for Invasion Dungeons

Just after the beginning of Season 1, Nexon announced that they were improving the farming rate for Hailey in an apology to fans. This improvement was delivered in the hotfix 1.1.0b patch notes.

In addition to announcing more generous drops for Hailey research materials, Nexon announced that they were also making significant changes to Invasion Dungeons. These changes include nerfs set for 1.1.1 this week, but there is also the promise of matchmaking and Invasion Dungeons as a multiplayer mode.

In the dev note vol.13, Nexon stated after update 1.1.1 “We are planning to add matchmaking systems so users can play the Invasion Dungeon as multiplayer mode”. This is fantastic news for the community as playing Invasion Dungeons with friends or strangers will be much be much better than solo.

Reacting to the upcoming multiplayer promise on Reddit, one user replied, “Thank f**k, I don’t care about the difficult vs easy debate of these missions I just want to do them with my husband so we stay at the same progression”. Another user echoed this sentiment, “Literally this game has been built on multi-player and that’s why we play. Why the sudden new content only SOLO lol. It was silly”.

Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly when multiplayer mode for Invasion Dungeons will arrive other than after update 1.1.1. As for patch 1.1.1, it is planned to arrive this week, so it should land on either Thursday or Friday unless there’s a delay.

What we are getting in 1.1.1 is nerfs to the difficulty of Invasion Dungeons. As stated by Nexon, they will “lower the difficulty of the puzzle mechanics and will modify the monster spawning”. This is intended to make Invasion Dungeons a “faster and better experience”.
