Once Human will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 25, 2026, bringing NetEase and Starry Studio’s free-to-play survival game to consoles with full crossplay and cross-progression support.
The console release will also introduce a new first-person perspective, allowing players to switch between first-person and the existing third-person camera whenever they choose. According to the developers, the feature will be available from launch and has been designed to offer a more immersive way to explore the game’s post-apocalyptic world.
Once Human first launched on PC and mobile, placing players in a Stardust-infected wasteland filled with mutated creatures, strange anomalies, and competing survivors. Players gather resources, build and automate shelters, craft equipment, and use supernatural Deviations to assist with exploration, production, and combat.
The game is divided into different Scenarios, each featuring its own environments, objectives, mechanics, and progression systems. NetEase says six Scenarios and a PvP spin-off will be available to console players at launch, amounting to more than 300 hours of potential content.
Once Human console performance modes revealed
The console edition will offer both Quality and Performance display settings. Quality Mode is targeting 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, while Performance Mode will support gameplay at up to 120fps.
Controller-specific features are also being introduced, including low-frequency vibration effects for large enemies, trigger resistance during boss encounters, and tactile feedback when collecting loot.
Although NetEase’s announcement refers broadly to an optimised controller experience, some features may vary between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S depending on the capabilities of each platform’s controller.
The newly announced first-person perspective will launch first on consoles, although the publisher has not confirmed whether the feature will also be added to the existing PC and mobile versions at a later date.
