The Finals’ fanbase has always been one to try quirky battle tactics.

From the ‘Snail Nuke’ contraption against nerfs to combating bloom in the game, the fans were quick to test the developers with new meta plays. And now a player has discovered yet another way to catch pesky Light class enemies off-guard. It involves enticing them with a little treat before nabbing them like rats. A Flamethrower is heavily involved in the gambit.

The Finals player fakes a defense to trick invisible enemies

Reddit user Genxun skilfully distracts an enemy team by dropping a Dome Shield on a fallen ally’s figurine. This tempts an invisible player to investigate, prompting the Heavy user to char them with a Flamethrower. He was able to spot their silhouette, giving him enough time to burn through the enemy’s low health bar quickly. Despite some complaints against the weapon, the thread noted the effectiveness of the flamethrower in the right hands.

As Reddit user LintyFish notes, ‘way too many people sleep on the flamethrower.’ Pairing a flamethrower with a medic like the video in the thread is a deadly combination. While the Lewis Gun takes the cake at range, few weapons scare you like being cooked by a flamethrower. It’s a cautionary tale for invisible Light class players looking to score a quick kill with their shotguns.

It’s an interesting tactic that you should certainly try out during your next trip to in-game Vegas. Unless you’re that The Finals player who removed Vegas from the game, of course. While the meta is always shifting with every patch, strategic plays can still outwit enemies if done right. For more on the game’s brand of destruction, check out our best The Finals gadgets.
