More often than not, in-game battle passes are ridiculed by a game’s player base since they cost money and frequently only offer cosmetic upgrades. However, Embark Studios seems to be on a mission to change the narrative surrounding these microtransactions, as The Finals fans are calling the FPS’s battle pass offering “the best implementation” they’ve seen.
Much like its counterparts in other games, though, The Finals’ battle pass also requires you to shell out your hard-earned cash to purchase it. However, the main difference is that grinding it out doesn’t feel as much of a chore. According to u/MozekG’s Reddit post, they were able to max out the latest season’s BP even without playing often – a difficult feat if you were to do the same on a game like 2023’s Modern Warfare 3.
Several commenters below the same thread similarly praised the game’s BP, with one calling it the “best battle pass [they’ve] ever purchased.” Of course, The Finals battle pass isn’t without its imperfections – some players are hoping that the developers introduce “cooler skins” and accessories with the next edition. But having a BP that’s easy to complete and doesn’t feel like a chore gives Embark Studios a leg up over the competition and a solid foundation to build upon for future iterations.
It’s also worth noting that with The Finals Season 3 arriving soon, the developers will introduce more player content, like cosmetics, accessories, and game modes. This includes the flashy ruby skins and rank that players have been anticipating since Embark Studios teased them, so there’s plenty to look forward to in the near future.
