Nintendo has announced another Grand Prix event this weekend for battle royale puzzler Tetris 99, this time with a Mario Party Superstars theme.

If you’re familiar with the game by now you’ll know the drill. Otherwise, here’s how it works. From the time of the event’s start, players will earn points depending on where they place from 100-1 in games of Tetris 99. The higher you place, the more points you earn. Collect 100 points, you’ll unlock the event’s theme permanently.

The Mario Party Superstars theme includes  an exclusive background, music, sound effects and UI all based upon the party game. Releasing at the end of of October, the game brought back several classic Mario Party maps from the N64 era and gave them a 2021 touch-up. The collection also includes online multiplayer support. It does not, sadly, include any method for cooling down household arguments when Birdo steals that last star away from you.

Previous Tetris 99 Grand Prix events include ones based on Monster Hunter Rise and Metroid Dread. The Mario Party Superstars Grand Prix runs from 7am UK time on December 10 and finishes just before 7 am on December 14 in Tetris 99, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
