Tears of the Kingdom, the latest release in Nintendo’s storied Zelda series, has improved upon its predecessor in more ways than one. Despite the fact that Breath of the Wild gave players a one-of-a-kind Hyrulean experience at launch, its safe to say that the sequel has already surpassed it thanks to the limitless creative possibilities that it presents to the community. However, TotK still has one glaring flaw and all you’ll need to do to find it is to look to the stars.
Even though all Skyview Tower locations and shrine locations will undoubtedly keep you busy on the ground, learning how to get to Sky Islands in Tears of the Kingdom is an inevitable necessity if you want to truly explore everything that the game has to offer. Unfortunately, players are now finding out that there isn’t actually anything significant within these floating locales apart from a few shrines and some less-than-prominent mini-bosses.
A certain Zelda fan named milky-cow even shared a post through Reddit expressing their disappointment at the lack of content within the Sky Islands. In their thread, they said that “the Great Sky Island was truly great,” but that they “wish there was more to do” within the smaller sky bound sections. “In so many regions, the sky archipelagos don’t contain more than one shrine, a dispenser, and possibly a boss,” they continued.
Several commenters seemed to agree with the poster’s sentiment as one person ended up saying that “the trailers really oversold the sky islands.” Another responder mentioned that they’d “definitely want more larger islands personally,” and that the Sky Islands “could definitely be improved.”
Luckily, many of the new in-game features, such as the ever-popular Fuse and Ultrahand abilities, more than make up for this singular Tears of the Kingdom flaw. Other players have even noted that the content they’ve found within the Depths have been enough to make them forget the disappointment they felt upon exploring the barren Sky Islands.
