The Street Fighter 6 closed beta test has come and gone, but it seems as if some users can’t get enough of the upcoming fighting game as they’ve seemingly been accessing it “outside of the designated period.” This has prompted Capcom to release a statement warning these players that they will be banned from a number of competitions if they continue doing so.
With the initial Street Fighter 6 character list having already been confirmed, a few pro players are seemingly trying to get a leg up on the competition by practicing with some of them through the closed beta test. Fortunately, the developer’s public service announcement has quickly put a stop to these shenanigans as this is apparently “a violation of the CBT Terms of Service and can be seen as violation of the Capcom Pro Tour code of conduct.”
According to Capcom’s statement, any player who accesses the CBT (closed beta test) “in an unauthorized way may be deemed ineligible for the upcoming Capcom Pro Tour and Street Fighter League seasons.” They would go on to end their post by stating that they appreciate the community’s “cooperation and understanding in helping maintain the fairness and competitive integrity of our competitions.”
However, it’s currently unclear which pro players have incurred the wrath of the Street Fighter 6 developers. Based on this relatively tame statement, though, it’s safe to say that they won’t be attempting this again any time soon – that is, unless they want to be banned from participating in any official tournaments in the future.
Fortunately, the Street Fighter 6 release date is only a handful of weeks away now so fans will soon be able to get hands-on with Capcom’s latest series installment. If you really want to scratch that fighting game itch, then we suggest playing through the Street Fighter 6 demo instead, which gives you the chance to try out the game’s single-player World Tour mode.
