Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City’s first trailer is here, and call us optimistic, but it actually looks like the upcoming live action Resident Evil movie might be pretty good?

That’s mainly helped by the fact they’ve packed in loads of nods to the first two games that this movie is said to follow. Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario) and Leon Kennedy (Avan Jogia) look very much like their game counterparts. There’s mentions of Umbrella and of course, the iconic Raccoon City Police Department building and the Spencer Mansion.

But it’s not just costumes and locales. We’ve spotted more than a few direct references to scenes from the games. There’s the infamous tanker scene that opens Resident Evil 2 and even the iconic “first zombie” scene from the mansion of the original game. And of course, the trailer also marks our first peek at some of the iconic monsters from the series. Lisa Trevor in particular is looking very grotesque indeed. Keep your eyes open too for a wonderful nod to the Itchy, Tasty line while you’re at it.

Don’t just take our word for it, make up your own mind by checking out the trailer for yourself below. (And try and stop yourself singing to 4 Non Blonds afterwards.) The Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City movie is set to release exclusively in theatres this November 24.
