PS Plus January 2024 games reveal date and leaving Game Awards winners

It has been an alright year for PS Plus members. There have been plenty of great games added to each of Sony’s tiers, but there has been the downside of the price increase. We are set to begin a new year, and the reveal date for the PS Plus January 2024 games is looming. They will be announced shortly after Santa arrives and delivers his own gifts to every household, but, while Sony’s gifts for the new year remain a mystery, we at least know some Game Awards winners leaving PlayStation Extra and Premium.

Although the new year is upon us, there’s still plenty to anticipate for December. If you happen to play on PC as well as console, there’s the Steam Winter Sale 2023 start date right around the corner, and don’t forget Epic is giving away 17 free mystery games this December. As for next year itself, although GTA 6 isn’t coming out until 2025, there are still plenty of amazing upcoming games for 2024 including a jampacked February with titles such as Persona 3 Reload and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

We cannot wait for the new year to arrive, and here’s hoping Sony starts the year strong with excellent picks for PS Plus January 2024 Essentials.

PS Plus January 2024 games reveal date

The PS Plus January 2024 Essential games should be revealed on December 27th. The next batch of Essential offerings is always revealed on the final Wednesday of the current month and one week before the release date for the next Essential freebies. The PlayStation blog post for December 2023 reveals that the next Essential selection will be released on January 2nd.

As for Extra and Premium, they should be announced on January 10th. Sony typically announces the Extra and Premium additions on Wednesday one week after the release of the Essentials. This can be seen in December when the Essential offerings came out on December 5th, with the upper tier additions announced on December 13th.

Before the new year countdown begins and you give your beloved a smooch when the clock strikes midnight, make sure to claim the current Essential offerings before they expire. The Essential giveaways right now are Lego 2K Drive, Powerwash Simulator, and Sable.

Games leaving PS Plus January 2024

Below are all of the games leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium in January 2024:

•  Jett The Far Shore
•  Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae
•  Omno
•  The Missing JJ. Macfield and the Island of Memories
•  Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire Ultimate Edition
•  Snowrunner

All of the above will be gone come January 23rd, 2024. It Takes Two won Game of the year at the Game Awards in 2021, meanwhile, Devil May Cry 5 won Best Action Game at the Game Awards in 2019. Although these are the two biggest names leaving, Pillars of Eternity 2 is another massive game especially if you’ve become a fan of CRPGs thanks to Baldur’s Gate 3. Snowrunner is another excellent game if you want something that is relaxing and challenging at the same time.
