The annual Epic Games winter sale for December 2023 continues. This is a fantastic yearly event for gamers to take advantage of mega discounts for dozens of amazing PC games such as Alan Wake 2 this year. However, what’s even better than the discounts is the free Epic Games mystery games. The next free mystery game unlocks on December 22nd, and, as of right now, there are merely predictions for upcoming freebies part of Epic’s 17 days of Christmas event.
In addition to Epic Games’ promotion, know that the GOG Winter Sale is happening right now with its own bevy of discounts. There is the Steam Winter Sale 2023 happening right now, too, and the ARK Survival Ascended Winter Wonderland in-game event has begun as well.
All of the above is exciting, but it’s the 17 days of free mystery games people anticipate the most. It often includes both AAA and indie titles, and the daily freebies are starting now.
Epic Games free mystery game December 2023 predictions
Billbil_kun has shared his predictions for the Epic Games free mystery games on December 29th, 2023, and January 2nd, 2024. It’s important to point out that these are merely predictions rather than the usual leaks. Over on dealabs, Billbil_kun predicted Melvor Idle for December 21st with an ‘80% probability’. The December 21st free game has been revealed as Melvor Idle.
For December 29th, Billbil_kun predicts the game is Snakebird Complete. This is an ‘80% probability’. Their prediction says ‘According to our information, Snakebird Complete will be released on PC on December 29, 2023… this date is also going to coincide with the date of Mystery Game No. 11, hence our prediction (in part)’.
Lastly, for January 2nd, they predict Celeste with a ‘30% probability’. Again, these are only predictions rather than leaks. It doesn’t mean either will happen, although Billbil_kun was right about DNF Duel on December 20th, and Melvor Idle on December 21st.
As for the December 22nd freebie, predictions are neigh impossible because the gift-wrapping color is the only clue. We will update this article if anything emerges, but there’s nothing online at the moment.

Leaker billbil_kun initially revealed that it is 17 free games this year rather than the traditional 12 and 15, but now it is confirmed on the the Epic Games website with an end date of January 10th. It’s a shame the next freebie doesn’t come out on December 14th, but it will become daily again from December 20th.
