Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is set for lift-off. The game’s thrilling story is right around the corner, meanwhile, the online multiplayer launches soon after with a pre-season before the start of season 1 just before Christmas. While online multiplayer is always the most popular component of every Call of Duty, some MW3 fans are divided over the pre-season military ranks and seasonal prestige.
Right now you can preload the MW3 campaign no matter whether you plan to play on console or PC. The release time for early access is imminent, and it’s not a local midnight launch meaning the common New Zealand trick will not work on Xbox. Although the story mode is never massively long, the campaigns have been fantastic ever since the Modern Warfare reboot back in 2019.
If you don’t care about the story and simply want multiplayer mayhem, then you simply need to wait until November 10th. And, if all you care about is Season 1, then you need to wait until December.
MW3 fans divided over pre-season military ranks and seasonal prestige
Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 pre-season has military ranks with a max level of 55. Climbing each rank will unlock base multiplayer and zombie items. In addition, the pre-season will be packed with challenges such as daily, weekly, weapons, and operators. You will also be able to complete the MW2 Season 6 battle pass in MW3.
Per the Modern Warfare launch comms blog post, the pre-season is slated to last until early December. Each new season will introduce fresh modes and maps to enjoy, as well as more content such as weapons, operators, and skins. However, although exciting, the military ranks and seasonal prestige have split the community online. Over on Reddit, one user commented they ‘hate seasonal prestige because you are locked for 1 or 2 months to stop leveling‘. Another user said it’s ‘awful, will be level 55 within 2 days, ruins the whole excitement of the leveling system‘. Agreeing with the sentiment that seasonal prestige is bad, another user asked why Activision can’t just ‘implement the old system of resetting unlocks every prestige‘.
On the other hand, there are fans who prefer the more modern system and seasonal model. One user argued ‘Traditional prestige was fun until I started going for mastery camos,’ meanwhile, another user said they prefer seasonal prestige because every rank actually provides rewards. The differences in opinion vary, while some argue that there should be an option between traditional and seasonal.
When Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer does come out, you will have a lot of MW3 maps and locations to enjoy. Again, more content will be added with the arrival of the season 1 start date.
