Capcom has revealed the details of the first Free Title Update for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, which is out now.

Just as with the main game, the Sunbreak expansion is getting its own free DLC schedule, adding more monsters, more armour sets and plenty of other tweaks to the game.

Following last month’s tease of the new monsters, a Monster Hunter Digital Event detailed the full contents earlier today.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak size

The update will clock in at 1.0GB on the Nintendo Switch. PC players will have to set aside a lot more room, however, with the update weighing about 9.0 GB on Steam.

Most of the new features we’ll cover here will require purchase of the Sunbreak expansion to access. However, vanilla Monster Hunter Rise players will still benefit from the bug fixes and balance adjustments afforded by the patch.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Free Title Update 1 – new monsters & locales

The first update will add four new monsters in total. The first two are Lucent Nargacuga and Seething Bazelgeuse, who were revealed back in June.

The patch will add Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian. You’ll need to reach Master Rank 10 if you want to take these formidable foes on.

The new update also adds a new locale in which to fight in. The Forlorn Arena is lit by moonlight, and is a haunting, dangerous lair filled with dangerous monsters. Keep on your toes, as Lucent Nargacuga isn’t afraid to strike from the fog in the arena.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Free Title Update 1 – new features and paid DLC

Free Title Update 1 is also adds a new system in the form of Anomaly Investigations. These are similar to the Anomaly Quests, where you were tasked to hunt monsters afflicted with randomly determined conditions.

However, in Investigations, the actual play conditions will be randomly determined. For example, the targeted monster, the locale and even the number of players. Completing them will let you level up the Anomaly Research lab and let you craft new upgrades for weapons and armour.

On top of that, the patch will also introduce new Event Quests. They’ll kick off from August 18, and will be added every week. Expect a variety of conditions and challenges that include some of the hardest challenges yet. They include new Dual Threat quests, where you’ll have to hunt two Monsters at the same time.

Finally, the update will also see the addition of some optional new paid DLC for the game. These include layered armour to make your character look like NPCs from the game, such as Fiorayne.

To complete the effect, you can also buy her voice pack to make your character sound like her.

More DLC will be available too, including costumes, face paint, gestures and cosmetics for both you and your animal buddies. There’ll even be special piano versions of the game’s soundtrack, if that’s your thing.
