A prominent Call of Duty leaker has claimed that a number of soccer superstars could be coming to Modern Warfare 2 as Operators.

The Ghost of Hope posted a list of names on Twitter of what they claimed to be “upcoming unreleased Operators for Modern Warfare 2.”

A few names on this list stood out – namely Messi, Neymar, Pogba and Roze. The first three are better known in the world of football – or soccer for our US readers.

The three names are believed to be Lionel Messi and Neymar who who currently play for Paris Saint-Germain and Paul Pogba who plays for Juventus.

If true, it seems Call of Duty may be taking a page out of Fortnite’s books, by introducing the real-world soccer players into the game as optional playable characters.

It’s not clear yet if it’s just a deal with these three superstars, or if they’ll be part of a larger football-themed collection of bundles in the store. It’s speculated that this could be part of an Operator Pack set to tie into the 2022 World Cup, which is taking place this November.

Snoop Dogg has previously appeared in Warzone as a playable Operator, as has the likenesses of action stars Sylvester Stallone as Rambo, and, most recently, Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator.

Modern Warfare 2 – Roze operator skin

The other of these names, Roze – is also notable, as she proved a controversial addition to Modern Warfare 2019.

Rozlin ‘Roze’ Helms was added during Season 5, and caused issues within the community as her very dark stealth-based outfit proved very difficult to see in game.

Raven adjusted her skin in later seasons to try and mitigate this effect – though it’ll be interesting to see the community reaction should she make her return. (And if her design is adjusted.)

There’s been no confirmation from Activision at the time of writing for either of these sets of skins, so for now take this rumour with a pinch of salt.

Modern Warfare 2 arrives on October 28, with the Campaign early access period starting from August 20.
