Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 hasn’t begun just yet, but rumors surrounding future updates are already starting to come in thick and fast. The latest report based on a PlayStation blog post is that the current CoD installment is allegedly going to be introducing a Lara Croft operator bundle during the midseason update, though this is still unconfirmed by Activison at the time of writing.
With the Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 release date nearly here and details on new content additions having already been established, the Lara Croft crossover comes as even more of a surprise as it seems that Activision is doubling down on its decision to bring more collaborative bundles even after the mixed reception to The Boys crossover back in Season 4 reloaded. This is further reinforced by the introductions of Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage to the game, a decision which has similarly divided the CoD community.
According to PlayStation’s extensive Season 5 announcement post, their section on Lara Croft simply contained a short summary of the collaboration that said: “Play as the legendary treasure hunter and video game icon in a new Operator bundle arriving in the mid-season.” Activision’s own announcement, on the other hand, doesn’t include any mention of the iconic Tomb Raider so you may need to take this information with a grain of salt for the time being.
Of course, with the Call of Duty 2023 release looming large, some players are speculating that this may just be a ploy by Activision to squeeze as much money as they can from the current series installment. Unfortunately, with fans continuing to buy most of the new bundles and cosmetics on offer, the publisher’s strategy to keep on introducing mainstream bundle collaborations could indefinitely continue.
