Activision has now provided more information regarding the release of Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 through an extensive announcement post and some of the most prominent details included with the reveal was the addition of Snoop Dogg as a playable operator and the additions of a Big Capture the Flag mode and 4v4 match type called Faceoff.
Naturally, as part of the Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 release date, these new goodies will also be arriving together with the introduction of two more hip-hop superstars in Nicki Minaj and 21 Savage as well as the return of a beloved CoD 4 map. However, fans have predictably become even more excited as the legendary California Love rapper is arguably even more popular than the previously mentioned artists and the addition of a close quarters, no killstreak mode like Faceoff is something that players have long been asking for.
According to Activison’s official announcement, it appears both Big Capture the Flag and Snoop Dogg will be available during the season’s launch window. Unfortunately, the 4v4 Faceoff mode will only be introduced during the midseason update so those looking forward to a pure shoot ’em up experience will have to wait a few more weeks before they can play it.
Aside from these modes and operators, though, Infinity Ward and Raven Software are also adding a number of new maps in Punta Mar, Strike, Lounge, and Canal. Now, the first two areas will immediately be available at launch as part of the Core map rotation while the last two are Gunfight-only locations. However, there will also apparently be another map added with the midseason update called DRC – Zone 1, which is a locale based on Warzone’s Building 21.
With there only being a few days left until the Season 5 update, you’ll be able to able to experience all this and more soon enough.
