The arrival of Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 Reloaded is predictably introducing a ton of fresh elements to the fray that should typically make the latest CoD installment more enjoyable than it was before.

But although the midseason update is bringing in an exciting pop culture element in the form of its long-awaited The Boys crossover, some are now saying that this may be the “worst season reloaded yet” because of its lack of new features. These player complaints are further exacerbated by the fact that the Season 4 Reloaded roadmap is largely filled with a variety of premium bundles, a few of which are already purchasable in-game.

Several users commenting under a particular Reddit post couldn’t believe their eyes at first, as some were incredulous upon learning that the roadmap in question was not a parody. A few were stunned at the heavy sprinkling of bundles throughout the graphic with a user named ise86 noting that “[the roadmap] is literally 50% bundles.” ItsRetroHawk then responded to the previous comment by mentioning the fact that “40% of those bundles are already in the game and available.”

The roadmap’s glaring prioritization of in-game microtransactions also wasn’t lost on these same players as devil_walk boldly stated that this update simply sees “Infinity Ward reloading their bank account.” The developer’s heavy emphasis on purchasable skins also becomes even more frustrating since all of the skins purchased in MW2 will essentially be worthless once the new Call of Duty 2023 game arrives later on in the year.

Unfortunately, Activision making a profit through these bundles does seem like an inevitable outcome seeing as how a majority of the fan base continues to purchase many of the cosmetic items being offered. And with the CoD community being as divisive as it currently is, we may not be seeing a change in Activision’s strategy any time soon.

In other Call of Duty-related news, some Modern Warfare 2 players are upset as a new perk gets made exclusive to Warzon, while other Modern Warfare 2 players are simply disappointed with a recent reward.
