Over the past 15 months, fighting game fans have been treated to Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, Tekken 8, a renewed interest in the SNK brand from a mainstream standpoint, the largest EVO tournament in history, and now Marvel Vs. Capcom is being revived thanks to the upcoming Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection along with Max Dood’s MVC Infinite & Beyond mod. It is safe to say that fighting game players are eating well in 2024 and beyond. And now Xbox fighters have some good news as both of Capcom’s upcoming collections are making their way to the green brand after demand from players.
Capcom took to social media to announce that it will be bringing both Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 to Xbox. This comes after many fighting game players were left confused as to why the Japanese developer bypassed Microsoft’s console for both titles, opting instead to release them on PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. In the post on X, Capcom said that,
“We’re happy to announce that after technical discussions with our partners at Microsoft, MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will release on Xbox One! Both Xbox versions arrive in 2025!”
Like PlayStation, both games will only see a release of the last-gen PS4 and Xbox One. This is because both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are fully backward compatible, so you can play the game on either platform. PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch players will be able to jump into Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection – Arcade Classics on September 12th, with a physical version coming in November. All platforms will have to wait until 2025 for the Capcom Fighting Collection 2.
Here is everything that is included in both games, including titles that haven’t seen ports in 20-30 years,
